Smoking policy

Just found out that RCCL has non smoking interior and oceanview rooms. This was a big surprise after booking and paying for my upcoming cruise on March 1st on the Independence. I found this out after reading a review by a passenger and then checking with RCCL.

Does anyone know where smoking is allowed on the ship other than the left side outside and the cigar bar. My husband is miffed that I did not check this out first before booking and paying. I am sure we will have a wonderful time anyway, but I think that RCCL could be more explicit and have a notice on their website on the front page about their policy. Carnival, NCL,and Princess all allow smoking in their staterooms.

Any info would be appreciated.

You're still allowed to smoke on your balcony, if you have one....The problem with folks smoking in their cabins was the smoke smell went into the hallways, making coming and going to your cabin a nasty experience. This way, the ship will smell fresh and nice for everyone.

I think there is still a "smoking section" in one or two of the bars. And on all ships we've been on, the "smoking side" was Starboard (right side).

This is a touchy subject around here, so good luck. ;)

But to answer your question, your husband can go anywhere outside on the starboard side to smoke. And to the casino, most of the time, is smoking.

It shouldn't have been a true surprise considering that most land based hotels are going totally smokefree.

RCCL still allows people to smoke on their balconies.

And you are talking to someone who's husband has smoked on the past 10 cruises (he just started Chantix 2 months ago and hasn't had a cigarette since). He has never smoked one cigarette in the cabin on any cruise. He chooses not to smoke up the cabin. So it's not that big of an issue for your hubby to go outside. ;)

Tell your hubby to loosen up or you can leave him at home. :p

Tell him to be glad he isn't on Celebrity.Their non-smoking policy includes the balcony, all of the public rooms except a few designated areas even including the casino. Maybe all of the other cruise lines will follow this lead.

Actually all cabins are non smoking, you may still smoke on your balcony, one side of the ship and in certain bars, there was a thread a few days ago that had the compasses listed for Indy, that shows the smoking and no smoking bars
