Casshew Posted January 12, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2009 Hello Silversea cruisers, I was working on my website and came across some photos I took in London of the Silver Cloud sailing under Tower Bridge. I was on a little Thames cruise and we had gone under tower bridge and were heading back when suddenly it began opening right above us. The captain turned around so we could see what was coming up behind us and it was the Silver Cloud along with the blackest storm clouds that shortly afterwards drenched all of us. This was August 2006, and I hope one of you were onboard :D hope you enjoy the photos.

meow! Posted January 12, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 12, 2009 These are really nice. Only the Cloud/Wind can get through, not the Shadow/Whisper. Is the height the limitation? Thank you!
shipsmail Posted January 12, 2009 #5 Share Posted January 12, 2009 Great photographs! I look forward to a cruise ending up in London this August with the SILVER CLOUD.
ScottToronto Posted January 12, 2009 #6 Share Posted January 12, 2009 Good afternoon, I sailed on the Silver Wind from Lisbon to London last May 2008. It was FANTASTIC. One of the best experiences I've had on Silverseas. Imagine being outside on the top deck, drinking champagne, eating hors d'ouevres, watching the bridge lift, stopping traffic in downtown London, crowds applauding......all at the same time. Absolutely amazing experience!!!! See attached picture! Bon Voyage! ScottToronto:)
Casshew Posted January 12, 2009 Author #7 Share Posted January 12, 2009 Nice photo, Scott- I wish I had been onboard the Silver Cloud sipping champagne like you instead of on my little Thames tour boat :)

mrscrab Posted January 13, 2009 #10 Share Posted January 13, 2009 I've had the exprience twice now. Totally unforgetable. The ships PA system plays Rule Brittania which adds a nice touch to the event.

strawbs1 Posted January 15, 2009 #12 Share Posted January 15, 2009 I was on that very sailing and to say we were drenched is an understatement! In fact, the first thing we did after docking was go down to the laundry and dry our clothes! I actually have a video of going through but I'm not sure if it would work if I attached it...techno-challenged, you see. Maybe I'll give it a shot. Despite the rain, it was an incredible experience to see the Bridge open to us!
Casshew Posted January 15, 2009 Author #13 Share Posted January 15, 2009 Hi strawbs1, if you email me the video I will see if I can host and show it. cass@casshew.com Can you spot youself in my photos? were you out on the deck? At least you could escape inside the ship when the rain started, I was not so lucky, but we had a great laugh.
