Ziplines ? For those that have done it more then once from different places?

Jimbo we did the Canopy Tour in Jamaica. Unfortunately you can only book it through the cruise line. The company will not book you if you are on a cruise. I guess you could go to a hotel and ask them to pick you up there to save some money over the cruise lines price...but it is not worth the hassle. I thought it was very nice...we jumped about 8 times...but some where very short spans so with a lot of people you have unhook and rehook each person at each platform. The final line was very cool, long and fast. It was definitely something I am glad I did but I got tired of jumping and then waiting while hugging a tree! We plan to to the zipline at Labadee... having done the other one I would rather do one super long run. But seeing the foliage is nice too...but a lot of walking.

Hope this helps.

I have not done it myself, but friends that we sailed with did. It was in Ocho Rios, and I know they booked through the cruise and their biggest comment was, it was muddy. They said don't wear new sneakers or nice clothes, because every stop was muddier than the first. But they had a great time and would do it again!

Depends on where you are going! I have zipped in PV twice (2 different outfits), St. Maarten, Cabo, Mazatlan, and Icy Strait Point. The most thrilling ride was in PV with a company called Los Veranos, where I zipped upside down 500 ft up (that's optional - you don't have to let go and zip upside down and backwards if you don't want to).;)

I'll be zipping again in April - it's my favourite excursion.

We did the loterie farm treetop adventure which is best described as an obstacle course through the trees. Zip lines, bridges to cross, stuff like that. The only problem we had was they said up front that if you thought you might be slow to get in the back but that didn't stop a group from insisting they go towards the front. As a result it took us an awful long time to get through and at certain points some had to be escorted over the bridges. We did this in St Maarten which was a last minute destination after hurricane noel prevented us from going to Labadee and Casa de Campo. It was a lot of fun!

We did the Loterie Tree Farm zip-line in St. Martin as well. It is more rope bridges/traverses/etc than zip lines. You DO get a workout, especially if you go in the summer like we did. And watch out for falling mangos.

The kids had a BLAST, DH & I enjoyed it, and are glad we did it, but next time I'd prefer something with more zip and less rope bridges.

I did it in jamaica for the first time and did not care for it. They had two zips that were straight up and down...while I loved zipling I am not much for free falling! I had friends do it recently too and I heard it changed a little and they didnt like it either.

I was hard pressed for my friends to convince me to do it again, but last year when we went to costa maya since everyone was doing it, I did it again! I LOVED IT.

In jamaica you had a group of people who went from one platform to the next and you had to wait for the whole group to get there before you went to the next zip..lots of standing around waiting at high heights.

In costa maya they had 15 zips, and 15 guys, you went zip to zip, it was so much fun, if I ever went back I would definitely do it again!

I did the zip line at Labadee just after it opened (I believe it was the third run) and thought it was awesome. First they take you to a little mini zipline to see it you like it, then it's in the jeep, up the mountain, to take the run from the top of the tower down over the rocks and trees, across the beach and water until you slam into the springs that stop you. The whole trip took about 1 1/4 hrs but that could be because they were learning about it as it was new . I think it cost $65 then not sure what it is now.

cheers,

We did Loterie Tree farm in St Maartan and Vallarta Adventures in Puerto Vallarta. Both were very fun Loterie Tree farm does have all the obstacles and that was great. The PV zip line consists of 14 zip lines and a short Tarzan swing. What stuck me was the difference in staffing. At Lotterie tree farm they had people on ground and at a couple of the zip lines but we clipped ourselves in and out and pretty much went through the course on our own. In PV we wore helmets and they had staff at each zip line with us and who clipped us on and off of the zip line.

Have fun!
