Travel Agent Credit

ABG

Recommended Posts

I have $200 in FCC that I am applying to a 9-day cruise, which gives me $50 per person on-board credit. My travel agent was also offering $100 per cabin onboard credit. My travel agent called me today and said that Princess's policy was to not allow both credits. My travel agent tried to question the Princess agent and they said they were absolutely sure it couldn't be combined.

Has anyone else ever been told this?

Nope, always been able to combine the FCC credit with the travel agent credit, and also our stock credit, in the past. Ended up with a ton of shipboard credit this way on our cruise last week. Something doesn't sound right here to me??????????? I would suggest the TA call Princess again and will find a different answer, or ask for a supervisor. We have always been able to combine the FCC and TA credit and never had any problems doing this, even as recently as our cruise last week.

Does she mean that you cannot get credit from both the FCC and the credit she is offering, or does she mean that using $200 in FCCs will not get you double the credit for using the FCC? You really only need to use $100 in FCC and the other passenger simply pays a $100 deposit but you both still get the onboard credit.

Is your TA new to the business? If not, I can't understand why she wouldn't know that both credits are allowed. This is just standard operating procedures with Princess. She's either not asking the right questions or she got a very inexperienced CSR.

Your travel agent is wrong. DEAD WRONG! Your FCC entitlement has nothing whatsoever to do with agency credit. Tell your agent the folks on Cruise Critic told you so. :D I don't believe that your TA was actually told this by Princess, since there is nothing new about this and there have been no changes.

I booked thru a travel agency my travel agent didn't mention anything about a credit, do I have to ask for it, or is it only if you book directly from Princess

TA's don't always offer a shipboard credit on every cruise. It all depends on the agent, if they have you booked into a group booking (not necessiarly with others you know anything about, just a block of staterooms). So, asking for it isn't usually necessary, they always alert us if there is a shipboard credit attached at the time we price the cruise.

We have never been offered a shipboard credit when booking direct with Princess.

They should both apply.

I received all 3 credits (FCC, TA, and SH) on my last cruise and will recieve all 3 again on my upcoming cruise.

Have your TA double check.

Here's another confusing point about cabin credit. The TA I use (and consistently has the best prices) always includes this statement, when offering CC, in their on line advertising;

"Book any cabin on this sailing receive:

* $25.00 per person ($50.00/cabin max) onboard Credit

* 1 FREE Bottle of red or white wine with dinner

* 1 6x8 Cruise photo voucher

Offer Details: This offer is limited to new bookings only. Onboard credit has no cash value; may not be used in the casino or for service charges. Wine voucher and photo voucher will be delivered in cabin."

When I first saw this I asked the Captains Circle hostess about it & she said I could use it in any way I wanted. I told her of the TA policy & she thought it strange. After returning home I questioned the TA & they said that they were explicitly told to advertise that way.

My conclusion is that the Princess main office has one way of thinking, but the ships make their own decisions when it comes to applying the CC.

We're sailing next Sunday on the CB and we have one FCC each as a result of a future cruise deposit last year, plus OBC's (group booking) from the TA including a bottle of wine. On top of that our TA threw in additional OBC's out of his own pocket. We're doing a B2B and have the same credits for both weeks.

I received all 3 credits (FCC, TA, and SH) on my last cruise and will recieve all 3 again on my upcoming cruise.

Have your TA double check.
