01/19/09 Hi All! Well we didn’t get to board until just after 2pm and we sailed at about 530pm. Word has it that an excursion was 2 hours late returning to the ship in COZ. Haven’t found out yet just what happened but I’m sure we’ll hear before the Cruise is done. We have early dinner and are seated with two other couples that are GREAT! We have things in common and the men talked so much we women had a hard time getting a word in. But it made for lots of laughter. DH is in the Casino and me I’ll spend my $$ for minutes to be on line. Will be back tomorrow with another update!

Have a great trip, however..... it was not an excursion. I just got off the ecstasy and the reason we were late is the boat had problems on the way to cozumel with the stabilizers and we couldn't travel at full speed the entire time. We were only in Cozumel from noon until 5:30 because we were delayed and the boat rocked like crazy the entire time. Hope they fixed it and you have a great trip!

I keep reading about these "problems" with the Ecstasy and it doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in me for our April cruise.

I feel the same way Texas; we're supposed to sail on her next month and are taking a first time cruiser couple. Hope they get her all fixed up soon, and not wait for drydock!

somebody from last cruise posted that the ship was running on 1/2 power back home, that is why it was late? that might be something to check into?

In the past this ship has had many problems with it's propulsion system.....it affected my Sept 2006 trip as Cozumel was cancelled and replaced with Progreso. Went again March and October 2007 without incident. Seems like this ship may need a tune up :)

01/20/09 At Sea

Things started out a bit Rockin’ and Rollin’ at about 0330 this morning. Guess we hit some rough seas. Was a bit cold most of the morning but by a little after noon we were finally in the warm air with smoother seas! Had a nice relaxing day didn’t go to any of the talks as well I’ve been so many times that I know what to do and where to go and since this is a R&R trip for us we’re not doing anything much in the ports. Tonight was Cruise Elegant night and was pleased to see so many folks dressing up and looking great. Dinner was of course great DH had the Maine Lobster tail w/shrimp and I had the Prime Rib. We had a few photos taken and will look for them tomorrow. The Captains Cocktail party was fun and the

hor d’oeuvres were some of the best we’ve ever had. After dinner we hit the Casino for a bit and then headed over to Karaoke. Some great singers on this sailing and a family with a couple of tween-teen boys who are very talented. DH has headed back to the Casino and me well I’m writing this!

Here goes.............she seems to be sailing just fine but we are hitting rough seas which is causing us to rock a bit. But it is January and it's normal weather. The story the crew is telling is it was a late group getting back but they are not going to tell us about engine problems and make it bad from the start. So far we're good. We're in Progresso now and the weather is perfect! The Fantasy is next to us and WOW the upgrades look great took some photos will try and post them when I get back.. I's say lets all book the Ecstasy for after dry dock cause she is going to be AMAZING! We're staying on the ship today as we were here in September.

 

It's about $25 for 60 minutes with 10 free minutes if you but the internet package the first night. I'm on the ido deck with my mini laptop right now!

 

OK time to enjoy the sun and relax will be back later or in the AM as DOD today is a blue 'Rita my favorite!

If you get a chance to chat a minute with Steve the CD would you please tell him that Al from the Vet Cruise said Hi. You don't want to miss him playing the fiddle - He is unbelievable don't miss that show.

Also if you are in the Windstar dinning room say Hi to Eva for Al & Barry from the Oct Cruise. She is one awesome hostess. She will remember us - ask her if she has looked at the DVD - please let me know.....
