Jrfund Posted November 17, 2004 #3 Share Posted November 17, 2004 I have read that sea grape beach is a great place on 7 mile beach. Can someone tell me where along the beach it is?
arizonacruzr Posted November 18, 2004 #4 Share Posted November 18, 2004 Hope to be on Grand Cayman Island next week on the Explorer of the Seas. We too were thinking of Sea Grape Beach. Any recent visitors have an update on this area?
Red Dog Posted November 19, 2004 #5 Share Posted November 19, 2004 Sea Grape Beach is alive and well!!!!!:) It reopened Nov 01 and is better than ever. They have a full bar & grill, chair rentals, lockers, umbrellas, rest rooms, changing rooms and fresh water showers. They have water sport rentals on property and even a little souvenir shopping also. Just ask the taxi to take you there...they will also come back to get you or you can catch one at the beach for the trip back.
CaptainR Posted November 19, 2004 #6 Share Posted November 19, 2004 Red Dog - Thanks for info on the status of Sea Grape Beach. I think this is the info that a lot of cruisers were looking for especially when you state that it is better than ever. Now plan to go there on my port visit in January. Thanks again. Janine Posted November 20, 2004 #7 Share Posted November 20, 2004 I was in Grand Caymen last Wednesday (Carnival Inspiration) and went to Sea Grape. Everything seems to be back to normal around that particular part of the beach. Across the street you will see the affects of Hurricane Ivan and its wide spread destruction, but everywhere you look they are re-building. Not all parts of 7 Mile Beach are opened though. We originaly asked to go to the Westin, and the cab driver said that it was not opened just yet.

PINEY10 Posted November 27, 2004 #10 Share Posted November 27, 2004 Sea Grape is right next to the Marriott Courtyard beach (formerly the Holiday Inn)--it is a brand new facility and just opened up within the past year. Has chairs, umbrellas, changing rooms, lockers, bathrooms (all new and clean) and you get one free drink. It was lovely, clean and a beautiful beach. It's about $10 a chair with the drink and the people were very accommodating. Nice place! Also has mats available to use in the water and other water activities. MarkButton Posted November 27, 2004 #11 Share Posted November 27, 2004 The new beach restuarant on public beach is open. Cost $4 per person each way. Or we drop you there after your stingray trip to get your toes in the sand and enjoy a cocktail or two! I personally like the fish and chips but that's because I'm British.:) Mark Moby Dick Tours We will be in GC in Jan and wondered if anyone who has been there recently know if Sea Grape has reopened and what kind of shape they are in. I'd love to see them if you could post them here on this thread, or post a link of where to find them. Thanks in advance. RP

PINEY10 Posted December 12, 2004 #17 Share Posted December 12, 2004 You can snorkel off the beach but probably the best snorkeling is further away from land. The water is crystal clear.
