Casa de Campo - Anyone done Bayahibe beach on their own?

I'm thinking of taking a taxi to the Bayahibe beach area and just lounging for the day. Anyone done this? Where would be a good place to be dropped off by the taxi? I would love to be on a pretty beach with shade from palm trees - with little shacks or bars or restaurants near by selling rum drinks and some food. Even better if we could get some beach chairs and umbrellas for a small fee. Any ideas? How much would a taxi be?

Check out the Celebrity forum for Millennium's Eastern Caribbean itinerary. People have done it by taxi, but it is not as "picturesque" as you write. I would not eat anything, also. When we were due to dock at 1 p.m.,we never arrived until 5 p.m. due to a medical emergency. Things like this often happend, so even ship tours are cancelled. Altos de Chavon, is nice to take a walk around, but souvenirs are limited and very expensive.

Many frequent cruisers wish Celebrity would change that port of call as it is terrible.

Bon Voyage
