What happens to Not used OBC

The cruise line keeps the money and doesn't even send you a thank you note.........

I always make certain that I cash out mine a day or so before the cruise ends; it's easy enough to keep track of things on the in-cabin monitor.

You mean it is humanly possible NOT to use all of your OBC?!

Amazing, really amazing..................

:D:D The only time I've had unused OBC it was under $5. We didn't do anything about it while onboard, but RCI dutifully refunded out credit card after the cruise. I have read that they will no longer do this, however, and that if you do not use OBC you forfeit it. You can withdraw it from the casino for a 3% service charge. I'm not sure if you can cash it out at Guest Relations on the last night.

To the best of my knowledge, you can only draw cash from your shipboard account ( which is where the OBC is) is in the Casino. Guest Relations won't do that for you.

Just wondering what happens if by the end of your cruise you have not spent all your OBC?

Hi Dotsofunn !

There are several types of OBC's, (such as a travel agent credit, celebrity promotional credit, shareholder credit, fuel surcharge refund etc). Some are refundable to your credit card after your sailing.... others are not. If you can be more specific about what kind of OBC you are referring to, I can help find you an answer.

Personally speaking, I do not believe I've ever had a credit balance at the end of my Cruise ! Still, I would rather not chance it. My best advice is to either spend it, or cash out at the casino, so you do not run the risk of any disappointment. Enjoy your Cruise !

Hi Ed !

From what I recall, you are correct. Guest Relations will not let you draw cash from your account, and the Casino is the only option for this.

I will soon find out if this is true, but a few months ago, Azamara/X exchange rate was still on par with US/Canadian $. So I purchased a large amount of Ship Board Credit for our upcoming cruise... (therefore saving 20% for the exchange!)

When I bought the OBC, the agent assured me that if I didn't used them all, I could get the balance in cash at the end of the cruise from the Purser.

We're leaving in 3 days... so I will let you know if this is not the case...

Hi Marie-Claude !

I recently purchased OBC's for my Celebrity Solstice sailing, and was assured this type of OBC is refundable. The only difference is, I was told it would be credited back to your credit card. Of course.... I never got to that point, as I spent all of the credits :)

Have a wonderful cruise. Bon Voyage !
