veryhotred Posted February 1, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 1, 2009 Sailed on her 1-3-09...clean ship, friendly crew. Ugly-NO and I mean NO deck chairs at all around the pool or even close to it...it was the worst I had seen in my four cruises...the worst I say!!! People would sit in their chairs then leave for hours on end and assign people to "watch" their chairs..it was terrible... Food-alright, nothing spectacular but you will not starve...remember there is a deli, sushi, pizza..warm chocolate melting cake is the BEST dessert! bad-kids running all over, but this can happen on any ship..the teens would congregate on the stairways and the tweens would run all over the ship banging on cabin doors (mine!) I caught them once and told them to stop..they ran away, came back and I said if I caught them again I was calling the pursers desk...that helped. I was on the spa deck too, there are only about 12 cabins total on this deck and it was the noisiest deck EVER!! We got a good deal and the cruise was fine..no real complaints but nothing to rave about..we got what we paid for and would cruise on the ship again
WishIwasOutThereNOW Posted February 1, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 1, 2009 i went on the destiny may 08 from san juan, southern caribbean. i really enjoyed the ship, but w/ the southern iteniary (sp?) i wasnt on the ship very much. all the shows were late at night and being w/ my 75 yr old dad, we missed all of them. destiny was clean and the food was good. they worked on the rear pool bar the whole time and that was a drag. on a side note, the most beautiful rissian girl i have ever seen is stationed on the purser desk. yowza. Alegeeter Posted February 1, 2009 #6 Share Posted February 1, 2009 Amazing - SERVICE!! AMAZING SERVICE! Imacculate ship. Good - lots of it! Food, entertainment, decor, food, comfy beds, food, warmth! Bad - Not much, but I'm going to have to say the lack of deck chairs.. but that happens anywhere. Ugly - NOTHING! Have a great time!

vplsh Posted February 1, 2009 #9 Share Posted February 1, 2009 thanks fot the great link.... do the do the walk for the cure that i keep hearing about on some ships? Yes, they do. It will be noted in your Capers. You register ahead of time and get your tshirt and wristband. We were on Destiny at Christmas. There's a link to my pictures in my signature and I wrote a review you can find at http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=896419&highlight=
terraweb Posted February 1, 2009 #10 Share Posted February 1, 2009 We just got off the Destiny yesterday, and we had a great time. This is the first cruise, though, where we never actually met our cabin steward. He did a fine job; we just never got to meet him. We had our favorite waiter ever on this one (Wency--he was a doll, and so funny in the waiter shows). We also met our all-time favorite bartender, Francois (Franciscus on his name tag, but he goes by Francois) in the Casino bar. He's great! Other good: dining room food and service were great, lots of onboard activities (so lots of chances for the coveted ship on a stick--I got 3!), great Asian grill, no kids in the adult pool or hot tub, good entertainment, debarkation was very easy (we did regular, not self-assist) Not bad, but not great: buffet food was just okay to me, the decor was nothing outstanding but well-maintained, the Capers never listed the in-cabin movies or times Ugly: The casino sucks, because I never won anything. :p Seriously, I have no real complaints at all. It was a great cruise, the ship was fine, and the staff was really great.
