Pearl - coffee Beans Roatan and/or Belize

My DH and I love to buy local coffee beans when we travel. I did an internet search and found that Belize and Roatan both seem to have coffee grown locally. Has anyone ever bought any of this coffee, if so did you find it near the ship? We are doing excursions thru the ship in both locations so I'm not sure how much time we will have to really search out the local places. So, any information will be greatly appreciated.:D

Hi, I have bought beans in Roatan, they were a dark roast and made great cappuccinos. We found them in a little craft and local pottery shop, that had been recommended on the ship during a port talk.

 

I can't help you with Belize, all I remember from there is "Rum Punch"!

We bought Gallon Jug Estate coffee while there, I don't remember where, but I have to believe it was at the port, as we did a tour to the monkey sanctuary, but didn't make any other stops.

Thanks all at least it sounds like we might be able to get some beans in Roatan. Hopefully someone else will have news on Belize. How about Cozumel... I would think MX would grow coffee beans.

I seem to remember Cafe Caribe in Cozumel. I know we bought something in Cinco Soles (sp.), just can't remember what.

I purchased some whole bean Copan coffee when in Roatan. The coffee came in a burlap bag. When I finally tried it, I loved it. Now I order Copan coffee to drink at home. It is great coffee.

There are many of the small shops in the port area that sell a 1lb bag of beans. I think that I paid $10 for the bag. It says they are from the Belize rainforest and came in a green bag. It is a dark roast and slightly acidic (sp?). I enjoy fresh ground beans and some milk and sugar and find it a great way to think back about the cruise.

Thanks for all the reply... At least now I know what to look for in Roatan and Belize. We really like bringing back the coffee...like stated above, its a good way to rememeber a place. We brought back about 7 bags from Hawaii and really enjoyed them.

Did you find that it stayed fresh? I would be worried about a burlap bag.
