mountainhouse Posted February 4, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 4, 2009 We're traveling ALL day on the 14th. Our layover in DFW will be 11:25A to 3:50P. Any ideas for how to celebrate Valentine's Day? I'm a bit leery of leaving the airport proper, but thought maybe a nearby hotel would have a nice restaurant.
Rare FlyerTalker Posted February 5, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 5, 2009 Given that the DFW airport is larger in area than Manhattan, I would suggest you look to the two Hyatt hotels within the terminal complex. You can get links and more info from the DFW website.

wrp96 Posted February 5, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 5, 2009 I can recommend the restaurant at the Grand Hyatt which is connected to Terminal D. I've eaten there a few times and really enjoyed it. Also, unlike the other Hyatt, you don't have to wait for a shuttle bus to get to the hotel. You just go out security in Terminal D, which is easy to get to with the SkyTrain. Just remember to leave enough time to go back through security and to get to your ongoing gate/terminal.
Rare Keith1010 Posted February 5, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 5, 2009 Having lived near the DFW airport for many years, I concur with WRP96. I would go over to the newer of the two Hyatt Hotels which is located just outside the International Terminal to enjoy a nice lunch in their restaurant. siryn Posted February 5, 2009 #6 Share Posted February 5, 2009 In Terminal D (international terminal) they have added several nice restaurants right in the terminal including Cool River Cafe (great crab cakes), Blue Mesa and Cantina Larado (never eaten at the airport location but just love the one in Frisco). This is a new terminal and a wonderful place to spend a few extra hours without having to leave the "secure" area. Lori
happy cruzer Posted February 5, 2009 #7 Share Posted February 5, 2009 I agree with Siryn. The new area in the airport is very nice. I would go there to actually have more time in the restaurant and maybe save a buck or two. Happy Valentine's Day!

Lori I can second Blue Mesa and their blue margaritas! http://www.bluemesagrill.com/ Reata in terminal D is great as well! http://www.dfwairport.com/shops/detail.php?coid=376 Reata is named after the Little Reata Ranch from the movie, GIANT. Haven't eaten at the airport location - only Fort Worth and Alpine. Would hope it's still great though! :) http://www.reata.net/reata_alpine.html Great... now my taste buds are watering....
