Do price shopping before buying....

Well, we have no one to blame but ourselves for not doing some price shopping before we left on our cruise to the Eastern Caribbean. We heard that shopping was so great there so decided to wait 'til them to buy a digital camera, and didn't check prices here in the States first. We went to St. Thomas and bought our digital camera, which we thought was a great deal (why we thought that, we don't know.....). Came back to the States and checked (a little late, huh?), and found we could've gotten the exact camera for $130 less, including the taxes!!! Ah well, live and learn.....good thing though is we have some GREAT pictures from our cruise!! Another hint - when buying electronics, make sure the plug is the type used in your home country. Hubby bought a Braun shaver only to find he needs to use an adapter - didn't realize that 'til he got back to the ship, and it was too late to return to the store.....

 

Morale of the story - if you're planning on buying electronics, etc. overseas, check the prices here first so you have something to compare to.

u really have to be careful when buying electronics outside of america. besides the fact that most warranties for electronics are a joke anyway, sometimes the warranty will not be honored here.

I'm sorry you got "stuck"! We read on these boards a few years ago to forgo any electronics purchasing. :(

It's not just electronics. I bought some great Oakley sun glasses in St. Thomas. Could of bought them $100.00 less in my own home town, and supported my local small business!
