Transportation from Houston to Galveston

Recommended Posts

What is the best way to get from Houston to Galveston? We are on the VOS in March and coming in a few days early. There are 6 of us w/luggage for 10! We looked into renting a van 1 way and then again the return trip a week later to avoid parking for a week. The 1 way costs are a killer. Might be cheaper to keep it there for a week. What is the parking cost there? Any ideas suggestions?

I was just there on Saturday and the parking that I saw is around $40.00, and that was pretty close to the terminal.

Have you checked into a limo service, I don't know what that would cost but you could check, it may be the same as renting a car and parking.

We are also a family of 6 and ended up renting a van from Enterprise for 8 days. The cost of the van and parking for a week ($50 at EZ Park or Lighthouse if prepaid) was just a little more than the least expensive limo services for roundtrip transportation. The van was about $400. That gives us flexibility of having transportation the day before (we come in on Saturday) and we won't have to wait for a limo, taxi or shuttle when we get off on Sunday. Just get the car and head back to IAH.

The shuttle service from RCCL does not run on Saturday from IAH to Galveston so it was not even an option for us.

Check into a limo service (google-Airport Shuttle service IAH). We did it a few years ago, and it was easy, and pretty inexpensive. There were 12 of us (with luggage for 20, I'm sure!) It should be alot cheaper than buying transfers from RCL- and the limo/van was a great deal more comfortable!
