Ventura Bashing

Does anybody know why this is such a popular pastime on C/C. It seems to give enjoyment to certain members to launch broadsides at the good ship Ventura at every opportunity. I must say I find it totally mystifying as to why they feel the need to have a go at any positive post on the Ventura. This is even more bizarre when you consider that two of the more vociferous critics have yet to sail on her.

This is just a re-run of the same diatribes against Arcadia. Ventura is a fine ship, she does not have all the features of Aurora or Oriana but has others which compensate.

 

She is an excellent addition to the fleet and complements what is already there.

 

I consider the variety of ships to be a strength of P&O. Azura will be the same as Ventura...but different.

Its what seasoned cruisers do best! They love to knock a new ship!

 

I was due to sail on my very first cruise on Arcadia in 2006 and joined the chat cruise boards in 2005 when I booked and remember the knocking well.:rolleyes:

I think Ventura is a really great ship and I cant wait to sail on her again. Only met one person on board who didnt like her and the only reason he came up was because they closed the casino around 1:30am when some people wanted to carry on playing! :)

There's balanced criticism which is okay and acceptable, and vitriol and constant digs which are not. I just can't understand why they pursue this line day after day week after week.

Stopgo, I did ask you in a previous post to give some examples of this constant bashing, you were unable to. Perhaps it is just in your mind.

 

I have to laugh when people with a negative view of Ventura are accused of 'bashing' but when positive views are posted the poster will receive lots of thanks and praise.

 

If people do not want to hear bad things about Ventura then they should not seek a balanced view, they should seek only positive reviews.

Whereas 'bashing' would be the mention of undated, unsubstantiated comments: "cruise on [some ship] and watch the chavs"; "not a classy ship" - that sort of thing. Comments that propagate an negative attitude to a ship rather than mention specific incidents or issues.

That's a great post Tom and really sums up what I mean. Unfortunately there are a few people on this site that take a great deal of pleasure from constantly knocking the Ventura. There can't be a balanced view because they only push forward their own agenda of dislike for the ship. This usually come's in the form of juvenile one liners, that show their lack of humour as well has their prejudice.

Ventura bashing happens in the casino each night when on the poker table you get a run or flush and the dealer does not open.:mad:

 

You then bash anything which is at hand. Usually part of Ventura.:rolleyes:

 

Thus Ventura Bashing has taken place.

So Mrs. StopGo, how do you decide that if someone does not like Ventura that their view must be unbalanced?

 

If someone has a particular opinon, take it or leave it, but don't call it unbalanced because it is not in alignment with your view.

I didn't say unbalanced, a balanced view is reporting good aspects and bad aspects. If a person is only contributing negative views then that's not a balanced view, they are only putting forward their opinions which is fair enough. I am more concerned with posters knocking the ship with out ever holidaying on her, and trying to put people off their holidays

Could it be that lowering people's expectations is a good thing? They are less likely to be disappointed and most probably have a wonderful cruise.
