Chelly Posted February 15, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2009 I have been reading about chair hogs on another thread. Seems people "reserve" chairs by leaving personal items on them @ 7:30 a.m., then leave. When people who haven't reserved chairs arrive later in the morning, none are available. I'll be on the Oosterdam's westbound TA in October and love to spend afternoons lounging in the sun. I really can't imagine dealing with the hassle of not being able to find a chair. Does anyone know if this happens on HAL's TA's? Thanks!
Rare Hlitner Posted February 15, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2009 One of the nice things about TAs is that chairs are not usually a problem. The combination longer cruise, during the school year, and the fact that HA attracts an older crown usually means many of the passengers avoid the sun. Its more likely you will fight for a seat in the library than on-deck :) Hank

The warm TA I did was Lisbon to Rio on the Rotterdam and the other was Barcelona to Galveston on the Navigator. I watch a few chairs and if nobody comes for awhile I move the stuff to the floor. rkacruiser Posted February 15, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 15, 2009 I have sailed on two TAs on HAL and have never seen all the deck chairs in use on the open decks. The deck chairs on the deck under the lifeboats: well, that might be a different story, particularly if the weather is pleasant. I would agree that it is more likely one could have difficulty in finding an empty chair in the Explorations Cafe/Library than on the decks.
