Withdrawl from OBC?

It is not a separate account for OBC. You have a seapass account that you secure with a credit card (most people, some use cash) and instead of having a starting balance of 0 you will have a balance of -200 or whatever the amount of the OBC is and yes you can get cash but at the casino it will cost you 3%

If you request cash in the casino it will be charged against your seapass acct. Ultimately OBC is deducted from your seapass - so yes...in a roundabout way you can cash out your OBC. I have read on these boards that the casinos now charge a % for cash....that has not been my experience. Hopefully others will confirm.

We had a gift certificate sent and when we received the certificate card in the cabin it noted that it could not be taken out as cash. We were recently able to get cask out for the "returned" fuel surcharge.

If we have any left over we do get it out at the casino and paythe fee.

Can you go to the pursers desk and get cash out of your sea pass account? We too have some OBC due to gift certificates. Would like to be able to take it out as cash (some at least) and use in the casino (w/o incurring the 3% fee). Is this do-able?

I had heard on this board that you could go to the pursers desk and get money from your seapass OBC however in October i was on the Freedom and attempted this since I had so much OBC due to buying it with my RC Visa and then using my RC visa points too but alas it was a no go. They directed me to the casino so I could pay the 3%. Needless to say I did not pay the fee and just made due with the cash i had brought.

I just called RCCL and they informed me that if you received an amount of OBC such as RCCL Visa points that no charges will apply until you pull out more then the OBC!

I explained that I had $700.00 in Visa points and $300 in on board booking points! or $1,000 in OBC!! I figure that $1,000 will be my spending $$$$ on the cruise!

Thanks everyone! It doesn't make sense to me, that if they require you to put money down when you arrrive, and if I did it in cash, then I needed some of that cash, they'd charge me to get it!

That would really tick me off!!!!

I'm not getting why they "require" you to put money down. Maybe I'm reading you wrong but I just use my credit card to back up any onboard charges. I bring some cash but I believe you can cash a check at guest relations for no fee. If there is any OBC left on your account at the end of the cruise they will issue a check. Yes, it was nice when you could get cash from the casino against your onboard account and not pay a fee. Just another one of those changes where RC benefits.

On my Radiance cruise of Feb 1st, OBCs were broken down as refundable and non refundable credits. Refundable credits were refunds of fuel surcharges etc. Non refundable were shareholder/future cruise OBC etc.

We were able to obtain cash at Guest Services for up to the value of the refundable credit. To obtain cash for the non refundable credit, you were told to go to the casino and pay the 3%.
