There's heaps of info on these boards to help you with your exciting cruise.

Check out the ports of call board

and also check out the Roll Calls for your ship

You will find that on the Roll Call threads for whatever your ship is.

Is this your first cruise?

Hi 4nomads nice to see another country west aussie on the Boards, we are on the Sun Princess cruise before you I think, leaving 19th July for 21 days. Not sure what your ports of call are, but they are bound to include Singapore and Kuala Lumpar as well, We have been to Singapore three times now and do our own thing, they usually run a shuttle bus up to the orchard road shops and you can wander round there or get a taxi anywhere, everything is close, taxis are cheap, Chinatown shops are more interesting, or if shopping is not your thing, the botanic gardens and the zoo are both great, as I believe is the bird park, other people we know have gone over the sentosa on the cable car, but I have no head for heights so I gave that a miss. We are going to Kuala Lumpar on our cruise and as we haven't been ashore there before are planning to take a tour there.

Hi there Guys.

This is the info of our cruise aboard the Sun Princess. We are looking forward to Singapore and will do a mixture of shopping and touristy things. The guys are both scared of heights so us girls will do the cable car.

How do you get on the Roll Call Thread. We are confused.....

cheers

Hi 4nomads. Look above the Cruise Critic heading at the top of the page you put your messages and you see the word BOARDS. Click on it and go to ROLL CALLS and pick P&O Aust. The full roll call list comes up so just pick SUN PRINCESS. Start one for your cruise if you don't find one or join in if there is one. Put it in your favourites so it is easy to find as you will go to it a lot. Hope this helps. Suexxx

I was going to do a link for you but noticed you had already found it.

Good work, keep posting on your roll call as it will add to your cruise experience to know a few people before you leave.

You will also find out what others are doing for tours so you can follow suit or join them.

Any general questions post here rather than the main princess boards.

Hi there, and welcome!!

you will have a ball, we love the Asia cruising, have done it 3 times so far on Princess. The sea has been like bathwater each time..., so calm... The weather is warm to hot and humid, bring your bathers for those pools and spas.

Shoppers paradise, Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, check out the china towns areas, many bargains to be had. We went to Ho Chi Minh city too, that is fabulous for shopping, as is Bangkok. I have never seen so many different and lovely shoes and bags as in Asia, and SOOO cheap too.

We usually run up a bigger bar tab on the Asia cruising due to the hot and humid weather..but...hey.....we always have a fantastic time!!

A lot of shore tours you can do your own thing, catch a bus into the city centres etc and have a wander...

..we always go to Sunway Lagoon Resort in KL...25 mins from ship by taxi...HUGE waterpark, wave pools etc, MASSIVE pyramid shopping centre, gorgeous.....a park, zoo, and lovely 5 star resort next door, makes a lovely day out and very safe area. The rich and very well heeled locals all shop there..VERY upmarket...:D

We love the old Lucky Plaza in Singapore, on Orchard Road, and ....:)many a bargain I have nabbed there...;)..lots of well priced clothes at this one. Check out China Town here.

Penang we shop at Prangin Mall...HUGE place multi storey about 10 mins from ship....huge ice skating rink underneath the centre too! Gorgeous leather bags and shoes here.

Ho Chi Minh..take the ships bus tour up to the city centre, make a bee line for Ben Tahn Market 5 mins from the Rex hotel where the bus drops you...wow..we were there all day...bargains galore.....

Have fun...we are doing this trip again next Feb on the Diamond!!..4th time!!

Hi there S&D,

Thankyou so much for the info. We have made notes and will certainly be visiting the shoes & bag shops!!!!!! I'm sure they will have lots of brochures and tour info onboard that we can check out. We have done a cruise on the Fairstar moons ago, and loved that but this cruise seems to be more promising. When we went on the Fairstar up through Noumea Vila way, we went through a cyclone, so this bathwater sea sounds so much better.......

Hi David

Thanks for the info, and no it's not our first cruise. We all did a cruise on the Fairstar in 1989, sailing to Vanuata, Vila Suva etc, and the Korelyia in early 90's from Fremantle to Bali leaving from Fremantle. Seems like an eternity ago.

So this cruise is whetting the appetite again. Really looking forward to it.

Below is out Ports of Call

Hi,

Great that you are cruising again.

You have chosen a wonderful ship and I think somehow you will notice a bit of difference from the old Fairstar, as lovely as she was.

In fact they are worlds apart and you are in for a great time.

I see you getting around the boards now .Thats great . All the best with your planning for the cruise.

G'day David

Yes getting around the boards, but very confused. We really don't know what we are doing, but having lots of fun. Get very excited when we get replies.

We do realise the difference in the ships, but when we went on the Fairstar early 90's, it was the last cruise she did. And we think she went to Singapore as a floating Casino.

Did you ever do a cruise on the Fairstar?

Better get back to planning.....

cheers

Hallo again Sun Princess has been into Bunbury a couple of times in the last year did you get a chance to see her then. We went up on one of her visits on a Saturday she is a pretty big ship, you will certainly notice the difference from the Fairstar, and hopefully the sea will be calm but the first day out and the last day back in in July/August, could be a bit interesting. What deck are you on? Have you booked a balcony?

Hi S&D, very interested in your thoughts of shopping in KL. We have done the city before and am interested in Sunway Pyramid s/centre this time. Were there plenty of taxi's at the port and no problems for the drivers getting to Pyramid s/c, all information welcomed and on Prangin Mall too. many thanks in advance, cheers

Good Evening

We saw her in Tassie when we were over there last year. She is a big girl. Haven't seen her in Bunbury yet cos we are always down the farm every time she's there. We don't have a balcony but are sharing with our good friends on Emerald Deck with oceanview cabin. Should be flash for us!!!!!!!.

Bring it on...........

The Fairstar wasn't a that bad a boat in it's day, we had fun on that cruise up to Vila Suva Vanuata Noumea and all the little islands on the way.

As long as there are no cyclones around, we should all be OK

cheers
