Best Dam Ship/Itinerary for Virgin Alaska Cruise?

Thinking of booking an Alaska cruise this summer.

Which ship/itinerary is best for family that has never been? What's a not to miss/avoid?

For us, any cruise in Alaska MUST include sailing into the bay of Hubbard Glacier. I would make sure your itinerary includes that. you'll love the beauty and grandeur of Alaska.

I would strongly suggest you have a look at the "Alaska" board -- there is a TON of info there that will help you understand the many choices available. The concensus of the cruisers who experienced Alaska travellers is to pick by the itinerary you want, not by the ship. HAL has many choices of itinerary, 7 day round trip, 7 day northbound or southbound, cruise only, cruise tours.

 

You need to figure out what it is that you want to see and do before you decide on a ship -- all the HAL ships going to Alaska are great.

Hubbard Glacier, Glacier National Park, helicopter rides -- all great.

Hubbard Glacier or Glacier Bay. Skagway if possible too. The train trip is to die for.

 

Also, the Zuiderdam was great for this trip.
