MamaParrotHead Posted March 9, 2009 #3 Share Posted March 9, 2009 If you have a lanyard (with a clear pouch to put your S&S card in), you don't need to lug around purses, bags or worry about having shorts on with pockets or anything (like when you have your swimsuit on). Plus, if you keep it under your clothing in port, you don't have to worry about anyone taking it if your backpack or purse gets lost or stolen. cheri Posted March 9, 2009 #4 Share Posted March 9, 2009 you can put your sail and sign card in them and get to it easier when you want to get into your room, getting on and off the ship ect. It just makes it easier.

Avril Posted March 9, 2009 #6 Share Posted March 9, 2009 They're very useful on the ship. :D As soon as I get onboard, I go straight to the Purser's Desk and get them to punch a hole in my S&S Card. Then, I put it on my lanyard and wear it around my neck. This way, I always know where to find it and I don't lose it!! :D
poobears Posted March 9, 2009 #7 Share Posted March 9, 2009 I don't do the lanyards, I don't like anything hanging on my neck. I get the bungee coil thing from the casino and have them punch my card and put it on there. Then I clip it on my wristlet that I pretty much always have around my wrist. I didn't see a lot of people with lanyards on our cruise last year. If they did, they weren't noticeable.

cls624 Posted March 9, 2009 #9 Share Posted March 9, 2009 Yep, you can wear it around your neck. You can put it in a beach bag when you're at the pool. Or slip it into a camera case. It's convenient for walking around the ship.:)

dan40 Posted March 9, 2009 #18 Share Posted March 9, 2009 thanks for all the responses!! haha.. so,... I would wear it around my neck or something?? or just hook it to my shorts or something?? I am soo confused..lol.. sorry!.if its around my neck, wont I have to worry about lanyard tanlines?? lol Your S&S card is the ONLY ID you need on the ship. Your S&S card is also your room key. And it is your money. The only cash that CAN be used aboard is for gambling, EVERYTHING else is charged to your S&S card. So, if you want to get in your cabin, S&S card. If you want a Coke, S&S card. If you want a drink, S&S card. If you want a souvenir, S&S card. With the S&S on a lanyard around your neck, it is always readily available Dan
UsernameNotTaken Posted March 9, 2009 #19 Share Posted March 9, 2009 The store sells ID holders that you see airport personnel and such use to wear their ID's around their neck. They're made from a fabric ribbon-like material. The casino and the guest services gave us free "lanyards" that were made from a coiled plastic line with a ring on one end to attach your S&S card to and a clip on the other end. You can attach the clip to the ring to make a "necklace" or clip it to your belt loop or whatever. I think the real (original) use is for keeping the S&S card attached to you when you're playing the slot machines, so that you don't inadvertantly walk away and leave your card in the machine.... which was exactly what my husband did. Avril Posted March 9, 2009 #22 Share Posted March 9, 2009 haha.. so,... I would wear it around my neck or something?? or just hook it to my shorts or something?? I am soo confused..lol.. sorry!.if its around my neck, wont I have to worry about lanyard tanlines?? lol Don't be confused or upset, you're going on a wonderful cruise aren't you? :D :D Yes, you wear it around your neck!! :D No, you won't get lanyard tan lines. You can buy them in the shops onboard for $2 or $3 (if I remember right, I bought mine about 3 years ago and have used it on every cruise since - I know they still sell them but I'm not sure if the price is the same as when I got mine). I personally don't like the ones that you get free from the casino. :( It makes it so much easier to have it around your neck. Then, you always know where it is when you need it and you greatly decrease your chances of losing it!!
