I know this will pass, but my DH and I are so down. It doesn't help we live in gloomy Michigan. We got home last night from our 10 day vacation on the Victory. I will write a more detailed review soon. This was our second cruise on this ship. We had the southern itinerary so we were exhausted to say the least! but, we saw a lot of great islands and picking our favorite is hard! If anyone has any questions, I'd be happy to answer. I can tell you that we went with Sunny Liston in St. Thomas, Bumpiing Tours in Dominica, Heat Wave/The Boatyard in Barbados, Lushan Tours in St. Lucia, taxi to the beach and horseback riding in Antigua and a taxi to Cockleshell Beach in St. Kitts.

More later.

I can understand why you are depressed being back home. In January I was in Michigan visiting my brother's family and I almost went nuts with all of the snow!! I had to come home and book a cruise!!

I've sailed the Southern Caribbean route in both 2007 and 2008. The islands in that area stun me with their beauty. I can't wait to read your full review!!

It's been 6 months since our first cruise and I'm still a little melancholy. Spring will come soon and that will help.

Unrelated question: Disney vs. Carnival? We LOVE Disneyworld. We are considering a cruise with our kiddos and have priced it out. WOW! Disney is so much more expensive than any other cruiseline. Why? Is it just the name? What is so special? We would be willing to pay more if we knew what we were getting. Thanks.

My in-laws took us on our first cruise, which was Disney. we had nothing to compare it to. The pools are small. The food was pretty good. I think they charge so much because they have to pay so many people to dress like characters. It was very nice and very kid friendly. I believe they had a casino, if you are not that. It was a great time and we loved it, but having been to Disney 3 times and crusing on Carnival twice since then, we much prefer Carnival. We usually are with our kids and there is so much for them to do. Our Disney cruise we only were on 4 days and went to their private island and one stop in Nassau. There was nothing to do on their private island except lay on the beach/swim. Carnival is much more interesting and adventurous for us. We like lots of choices of places to visit and things to do. Our kids liked it a lot, but they love to cruise too and have never said "the Disney cruise was better". I hope this helps. I definitely don't think the price is worth it, but that's just me.

Looking forward to your review.

We're flying in around noon on Saturday and will do some walking around OSJ before we board Sunday; Monday is a visit with Papa Bear in St T; Tuesday in Dominica is a tour with Levi (Bumpiing); Wednesday is Glory Tours in Barbados; Thursday is an island tour with Cosol in St Lucia; Friday is an island tour with Gordon in Antigua; and Saturday is an island tour with Thenford Gray in St Kitts.

Staying Sunday and Monday at the Marriott Stellaris Resort & Casino.

As much as I'd love to find a way to the see the Bioluminescent bay or rain forest in San Juan, there's just no way I can cram in anything else.

Yes, it will be exhausting, but we aren't even doing any "activity" sorts of excursions (except there's walking on some tours to get to waterfalls and there's swimming with the sea turtles and snorkeling in Barbados).

Thankfully, there will be at least SOME beach time on a few of the days, and I plan on simply lying on the beach at the Marriott and RESTING when we get back to San Juan. But I'll be danged if I'm going all that way and not seeing the islands (never been to any except St T).

Please get some rest and come back with lots of details and lots of pics! :D

Do you have any idea how much those costumes cost?
