Cleocruiser Posted March 13, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 13, 2009 Wanting to go to one of the beaches in Grenada, but need shade. Is there any shade at La Sagasse or Magazine? Going in 3 weeks.
kastaway ken Posted March 20, 2009 #2 Share Posted March 20, 2009 Hi Cleocruiser I just saw some photos of Magazine Beach. Looked like plenty of shade available. It was on this Grenada thread, page two under "beaches" . Look at post # 26 from Lsimon, 2008 photos. Kastaway Ken
Sailor Gal Posted March 20, 2009 #3 Share Posted March 20, 2009 Hey guys We're all going on the same cruise in two weeks! We're also trying to figure out which beach we should go to in Grenada. We're thinking Magazine beach.
moya Posted March 21, 2009 #4 Share Posted March 21, 2009 We are also with you on the same cruise and have plans to go to Magazine beach. Have been to Grenada before and did the spice tour so we wanted to try something a little more laid back for the day. Moya
Aplmac Posted March 21, 2009 #5 Share Posted March 21, 2009 Magazine Beach is considerably closer to the dock than is La Sagesse. You might want to take that into consideration. ;) .
caribbean2000 Posted March 22, 2009 #6 Share Posted March 22, 2009 We were at Magazine Beach a few days ago off the Emerald Princess - beautiful beach, plenty of shade, great little beach bar. Probably good snorkeling over the reef but it was too windy and choppy when we were there. In any case, it is a wonderful beach. Highly recommended! Be sure to have your taxi driver return for you however as it is not on a regular route.

Did your cab driver come back for you in a timely manner? Moya
caribbean2000 Posted March 27, 2009 #8 Share Posted March 27, 2009 Moya - I *think* the fare was $15 in each direction and I'm pretty sure I gave the driver $20. He was there to pick us up about a half hour before the scheduled time and hung out at the Aquarium beach bar area (where we were having a nice rum punch!) until we were ready to go. No problem, mon! Oh yeah - another nice thing about Magazine compared to more popular beaches on Grenada - very few vendors and the ones there were polite. I think we were the only cruise passengers there but there were a few people on the beach who were staying at the resort. It certainly was NOT crowded by any means. Heaven! Wish I was back there right now....

Aplmac Posted April 5, 2009 #11 Share Posted April 5, 2009 .. need shade. Is there any shade at La Sagesse or Magazine? I haven't been for awhile butas I remember it, there's a good bit more shade at La Sagesse This shot of Magazine Beach.. was taken in May 2005 - I don't see much possibility of shade here although I could be wrong. Maybe someone's renting umbrellas there, by now?? Or just use the Aquarium Beach Bar there, for drinks, shade etc.. Whereas... I remember the situation at La Sagesse being that the forest came pretty much right down to the beach and so you should find some natural shade there but as mentioned above, I haven't been to G'da in nearly 4 yrs. now. Hope this helps? .
