DieHard Posted March 15, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 15, 2009 What happens when the ship docks at Barbadas? If there are passengers leaving the ship and new ones boarding it seems there could be mass confussion with people going every direction. Looks like the biggest problem could be when you go ashore and return to the ship at the time new passengers are boarding.
Krazy Kruizers Posted March 15, 2009 #2 Share Posted March 15, 2009 Interesting question. A know there have been people here who have taken that cruise -- and they reported very people actually got off the ship in Barbados -- thus few got on. Looks like the biggest problem could be when you go ashore and return to the ship at the time new passengers are boarding. I sailed on the Maasdam 14 day cruise October 24 thru November 7th. We gain additional 52 cruisers at this port. The majority of the additional cruisers were arrving on late evening flights and wouldn't arrive until after 8:30 p.m. However, there were a few that did arrived during the day time. When I returned to the ship about 1 p.m. there was a person boarding at that time. There were extra ship crew to assist this man with bring his luggage up the walkway. He was greeted and escorted to an elevator that was closed off just for the inbound cruisers. It really didn't make a difference in the time that I waited for another elevator to arrive. I noticed also that the lifeboat drills (I guess for some) were held when we were in St. Lucia en route to the service call for the ship tours. I was out on the deck enjoying the view when about five people were coming out on deck in their lifejackets. I hope that this helps!!
iflyrc5 Posted March 16, 2009 #4 Share Posted March 16, 2009 We just did this during the last Maasdam cruise - only 60 people got off - really didn't seem any different than any other port as far as people. In Barbados you go through a shop mall area to get out to the tours and town. Very easy Port and nice shops right at the pier.
