Early morning or late night??

Recommended Posts

Some of us are morning people - some are night people. Which are you and why?

I love getting up in the morning on a cruise and either

a) ordering a small breakfast on the balcony while watching to sunrise.

(Memories of Mykonos and Santorini dawns are crossing my mind right

now) or

b) getting an early breakfast in the Windjammer, sitting outside reading

(decks freshly washed, crewmembers setting up loungers, perfectly

peaceful.

Of course I miss a lot of late night fun - but these moments stay with me long after the cruise.

I'm with you Melissa. :)

I enjoy an early breakfast on our balcony and just watching the sea.

I haven't been to an evening show onboard in over a year.

We dine early and hit the sack early. :)

But then we're retired. When we were younger it was a different story. :D

I like to get up early, but not "workday alarm clock" early. Usually get up btwn 7:30-8:30 but that's also assuming I don't have an inside cabin which allows me to sleep until 10 or 11, lol. Either way I'm ready for some bedtime reading after the show, usually changed and comfy by 10 or 10:30. For me, napping is the best part of any vacation, especially a cruise on sea days.

Funny note - my mom and her friend sailed on our last cruise, had late dining and were up to all hours of the night when I was already in bed. She would call at night and say, "you're already in bed??? What fun are you?" lol.

I guess I am kind of in the middle. I don't like to sleep in too late, but I don't get up really early either. I am usually up, dressed and ready for the day by a little before 8:00 am. I am not really a night owl either. Some nights I would stay up late if there was an activity I really wanted to do, but for the most part I was to bed after the late show. I really need my 8-10 hours of sleep every night!!

I am up by 4 or 4:30 every day at home as that is the best time to read for me. On a cruise, I may "sleep in" until 5 or 5:30! I enjoy reading on the balcony as the sun rises. On the other hand, we are in bed by 10 or so. We joked on our last cruise that we were getting "wild" as one night we were up past 11!

We usually do both on port days. We, well mostly I, stay in the casino until after 1:00 then a quick night-cap, or 6 in the disco before bed. Then get up early enough to watch us pull into port, order coffee and danish while watching them tie up the ship. Shower and go to regular breakfast in the Windjammer before heading out. Sea days we'll both stay up late and close the casino, have a night-cap or 12 in the disco and sleep in the next morning.

There's enough time to sleep when I'm dead, I'm not going to waste that time on a vacation.

For the most part I am a morning person but I tend to do both when on vacation. We always have late seating for dinner and then go to a bar or the casino and head back to the cabin between 12 and 1am. I will go right to sleep and be up by about 7 or so. My husband will stay up another couple of hours in the cabin after we get in for the night and would sleep until noon if I let him!

Hubby gets up at 4-4:30 every AM vacay or not. So he gets up and goes to WJ has coffee and usually by the 2nd or 3rd day has met another early bird, and they have coffee and watch the day begin.

He then brings coffee to the cabin and lets me wake up slowly, when I am functioning he brings me some hot coffee and by 9:00 I am together enough to go up to WJ for breakfast. The BEST is breakfast the first morning. I look forward to that and the first lunch in WJ more than just about any other meal on board.

But ya know what he does the same thing at home minus the WJ

Neither, I'm Middle.

Prob'ly will be up by 9 each day, but would love if I could sleep to the double digits. I generally LOVE BREAKFAST so will always attempt to make it to the DR for it. mmmm, Eggs Benedict!

I won't stay out until 4 am, but 2 am would not be unusual.

DH is late night. Not likely to see him before noon, if not 2 pm.

Even though we are far from young, we are usually fairly late night people who do all the lounge shows until about 1:30 PM. Then up and ready to go by 9:30 at the latest.

And, on a cruise there is no such thing as a nap in our world. Rest time is to sit on our balcony and watch the flying fish go by. :D

For us, on a cruise - both. I am up before 6 am every morning as I hit the gym before everyone else gets in there. I get my workout done, go shower, grab some fruit for breakfast and DH and I are usually one of the first off the ship.

But on a cruise, we also stay up late to see most shows, etc. Rare we are in bed before midnight. I try to catch "power naps" on the beach each day, but for the most part, we run on very little sleep when cruising - we catch up once we get home!!

Now at home - total morning person - up at 4:30 to be at the gym by 5 am, and most nights in bed by 9 or 9:30.

Fairly early for the both of us. Usually have a room service delivery between 7:00/7:30 then sit on the balcony with a pot of coffee and a light snack enjoying the fresh air and either the ocean or the ship coming into port. After that, it's up to either the Windjammer or MDR for breakfast. Great way to start the day no matter what you're gonna do.:D

GOOD FOR HIM!

I am one of the guys he meets with.

On every cruise I have been on, there is a group of early risers, many of them Veterans, that seems to meet in the rear of the pool deck smoking area long before sun-up. We talk over the good old days, politics, current events, and generally have a good time while 99% of the passengers are still zonked out in their cabins.

The ship is ours for this brief period! :D

We try to get up early(6:00/6:30) and hit the gym but usually one or two mornings we sleep in later(8:00/9:00). We never go to bed before 11:00 pm more often closer to midnight. Now lets talk about during the day .... We always try to take a nap or two. either back in the cabin or in the solarium or on a shaded deck. That is my favorite part of a cruise .... reading, sipping & napping and most of the time in that order.

Hubby isnt a vet, but he is from military family so he looks military. He is in his 40's but likes to sit with the older guys cuz their stories are better. And their lies are bigger.

Late to bed, early to rise.

DH will be in bed by about 1:00 am on a cruise; I will stay up reading and/or watching the ocean from our balcony until at least 2:00 am. I am usually up, dressed and in the WJ for my first cup of coffee before 8:am. I let DH sleep till 9 am. At home, DH is in bed before 10 pm and up at 5:45. I am seldom in bed before 12:30 am, and up at 6:15 am.

It's not my choice, but my body clock...I'm up by six every single day without fail (and it doesn't matter when I go to bed). So I'm definitely an early morning person. I love having coffee on my balcony and going for a walk on deck. It's even better when I can catch a sunrise over the ocean.
