Late May in Alaska weather?

We will be leaving Seattle for our Alaska Cruise on May 24th, what can we expect in the way of Weather?

No one can really tell you what the weather will be like in Alaska...it is one of the weather factories of the world. I would be inclined to tell you that it will be damp and cool, but not cold. If it is better than this...well thats a bonus.:)

Late May and early June is the driest part of the cruise season, and temps in the mid 70s are common after about May 20. BUT... anything is possible so come prepared.

What ship are you on? We're sailing on May 24th too.:D

 

I have read to bring layers, I read it can be cold and raw :( to warm enough people have worn shorts.

 

I plan to come prepared.

 

This is our first trip to Alaska too.

May is the 'Dry Month', a little cool, but no bugs.

Before a cruise, I always go to www.weatherunderground.com, plug in the location and scroll down to find "Detailed History and Climate". I put in the date for the previous year to see what was happening and go forward and back a few days.

I also use this site to check the current weather just before leaving.

I find it very useful in deciding on what clothing to bring.

A coworker of mine was in Alaska at that time last year and they had beautiful warm sunny weather the entire week. A fellow coworker went the following week and they had snow falling. Anything is possible I guess.
