Lizzie1 Posted March 25, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 25, 2009 We're taking a HAL northbound cruise from Vancouver to Anchorage with a land tour ending in Fairbanks in mid-Sept. There are many airline options for Vancouver (including going to Seattle and driving), but I can find little information about options from Fairbanks. We live on the East Coast. Should we book through the cruiseline, or are there savings to be had by booking ourselves? Some airlines, like SW, don't yet book that far in advance. wrp96 Posted March 26, 2009 #2 Share Posted March 26, 2009 Well Southwest doesn't fly to Alaska so you don't need to wait for them to open up bookings for September. You need to look for an open jaw ticket (some websites call it a multi-city or multi-destination ticket).
cateera Posted March 26, 2009 #3 Share Posted March 26, 2009 I too am from the East Coast. Check out Northwest Airlines (http://www.nwa.com). I booked flights from Boston to Vancouver & Fairbanks back to Boston for $599.00 per person for June. A long leg coming home but for the price we didn't mind. Budget Queen Posted March 26, 2009 #4 Share Posted March 26, 2009 I would also suggest you add a couple days, for Fairbanks touring, plenty to see and do with a necessary rental car. You see very little of Fairbanks on a cruisetour. Perhaps, consider taking advantage of being there? IF you want to go with Southwest, then you'll need to book Alaska Airlines/other one way to Seattle.
Lizzie1 Posted March 26, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted March 26, 2009 Thanks for your help. I'll look into NWA and staying over in Fairbanks.
