melika091900 Posted March 30, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 30, 2009 I know that the ryndam doesnt have an ATM, but if you wanted to get cash off your credit card(the one you didnt use for your sail and sign account) can you ??? i know there will be a fee, but i remember doing it on carnival , at the front desk im just wondering since we travel in a few days, and i really didnt want to take a lot of cash with us ... thanks in advance Melissa
jtl513 Posted March 30, 2009 #2 Share Posted March 30, 2009 Yes, you can draw cash on your onboard account for a 3% fee from either the casino or front desk. If you don't want to carry cash, I suggest you get some travelers checks which can be cashed at the front desk for free.
bepsf Posted March 30, 2009 #3 Share Posted March 30, 2009 The front desk will handle this for a small fee - and you may use a different card than the one that your shipboard account is on.
Krazy Kruizers Posted March 30, 2009 #4 Share Posted March 30, 2009 I'm like another poster -- take travelers checks -- we can get them free through AAA. Keep in mind that if you use that credit card a couple of times -- that 3% fee can add up.

Keep in mind that if you use that credit card a couple of times -- that 3% fee can add up. With a 3% fee it does not matter how often you use the card, it is how much money is involved. $1000 will cost you $30 whether you take it all in one go or take it in ten $100 batches. Many banks and provide no fee traveler's checks to their better customers. I agree that no fee checks are a much better option.
wabash Posted March 30, 2009 #6 Share Posted March 30, 2009 Doesn't the CC company also start charging you interest the minute you take the cash advance?
navybankerteacher Posted March 30, 2009 #7 Share Posted March 30, 2009 Considering the 3% the front desk charges plus the charges your card company will apply, you should take travelers checks --Citibank's are free at their branches, and American Express Cheques are without fee if you are an AAA member - as they are at many banks who sell them to their account holders. Rare whogo Posted March 31, 2009 #8 Share Posted March 31, 2009 Does the credit card company consider the cash from the front desk as a cash advance or a regular charge?
jtl513 Posted March 31, 2009 #9 Share Posted March 31, 2009 Doesn't the CC company also start charging you interest the minute you take the cash advance? No. It is a debit to your shipboard account, like a purchase, not a cash advance from the cc company. melika091900 Posted March 31, 2009 Author #10 Share Posted March 31, 2009 thank you all for responding, that makes me feel better, im aware of the charge, i would rather pay that then travel with alot of cash.. travelers checks is a good idea too, but i hate dealing with that, i know im picky ,, sorry CC thank you all again melissa
Krazy Kruizers Posted March 31, 2009 #11 Share Posted March 31, 2009 Think of it this way. You go to the front office with your credit card to get cash -- takes a c couple of minutes. You go to the front office to cash travelers checks -- still only takes a couple of minutes.
melika091900 Posted March 31, 2009 Author #12 Share Posted March 31, 2009 thats true.. i just dont really know how much cash we are going to need, depends on how everything plays out, i dont want to get hundreds of dollars in travelers checks if i dont really need it, id rather have in my account for the ship... :D
Krazy Kruizers Posted March 31, 2009 #13 Share Posted March 31, 2009 Travelers checks -- if you had any left over -- most banks won't charge a fee if you have any left over. OR Once you get home -- use them at the grocery store!! Our grocery store doesn't charge a fee for using them.
