CTKath Posted April 30, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 30, 2004 I was just looking a picture of the aft of the AOS. What is the view like from the balcony? It looked like there is something grill-like that covers the back, but the balconies don't go out that far. It looks like it's an obstructed view. Please let me know, thanks. cruiserkcs Posted April 30, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 30, 2004 The balconies for deck 6 & 7 do not go all the way out to the back of the ship, but the balconies are huge. The balconies on the 8th, 9th, and 10th decks for the most part go all the way out, especially the corner balconies. We were in a corner aft on deck 8 and the view was great! We could see to the side and back. Nothing that I would call an obstruction to the view. I can't speak for the other decks. Tropicale-So. Carib. 5/92 Nordic Empress-Bahamas 6/93 Celebration-W. CTKath Posted April 30, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted April 30, 2004 I'm looking at a Royal Family Suite on deck 9 and it looks like there is this grill-like thing blocking the view. The cabin is in the middle of the back. Can anyone confirm or deny this for me? Thanks. devvt Posted April 30, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 30, 2004 We had 9392 on the Navigator last week - great view. This cabin is adjacent to the Royal Family suite, closer to the side. Yes, there is part of the ship's superstructure - more so in front of the suites, but I don't think the view is terribly obstructed.

2VaCruzers Posted May 3, 2004 #11 Share Posted May 3, 2004 We had a corner aft on the navigator. No obstruction whatsoever!! Lots of privacy and you can get a bit of a side view as well. We booked the same cabin again but on the Explorer. The view of the wake, the sunset, and everything else is purely spectacular. Spring Break on Explorer...Come join us!! kat9661 Posted May 3, 2004 #12 Share Posted May 3, 2004 Jayme, I'd grab that cabin in a heartbeat. Check out Bonnie's pictures. The balcony is huge. We have 7388 and 8392 booked in September on AOS but I'd love to get a corner aft instead of 8392. cyacrusin Posted May 4, 2004 #13 Share Posted May 4, 2004 Hi Just off the Navigator and we had 1688. It was wonderful. No obstruction whatsoever and like the previous poster said you get a slight side view and the aft. The larger balcony and room was wonderful. The only thing that I noticed was the sound carried from the other aft balconies. You could hear you neighbor from a few cabins away talking. The great thing about it was its so calm, none of the wind that you get from the side cabins. I would do an aft again... Happy Crusin... Kruzers Posted May 10, 2004 #17 Share Posted May 10, 2004 Hey devvt, we have that same exact room on our cruise in August '04 (NOS). How wide is the balcony? We had a corner aft cabin last year and the balcony seemed very wide compared to the length. No matter, it was terrific. We were just thrilled that we were able to have to lounge chairs on the balcony at the same time and hope we can do this with the middle (non-corner) aft cabin. Thanks! katydyd Posted May 10, 2004 #18 Share Posted May 10, 2004 We had cabin 7392 on the NOS this April. Some how both my husband and I missed the fact that the aft balconies were not directly on the water. We were a little disappointed because I love leaning on the railing and watching the water go by. That being said, the balcony was HUGE!! We definitely spent more time on the balcony than we did in the past. Would I book it again? Probably not. Bonnie's pictures are great, I think they give you a good idea of whether the superstructure will bother you or not. cruzinpsycharnp Posted May 10, 2004 #19 Share Posted May 10, 2004 Do the afts have pullman or sofa? I'd rather the sofa bed since that pullman comes right over the bed. till Mariner Queen Elizabeth 1963 Florida 1966 Mardi Gras 1980 Holiday 1982 Tropicale 1999 Pride 2002 Grand Princess 2003 Mariner 2004
robinm918 Posted May 10, 2004 #20 Share Posted May 10, 2004 Cathy, we had an aft on Explorer last year (6388). While the big balcony was nice, we just didn't put it to very good use. Kruzers Posted May 11, 2004 #23 Share Posted May 11, 2004 Psee, thanks for the photo of the balcony on cabin 9392. That's just what we were looking for. I can't believe how big the balcony looks. It almost looks as big as the corner aft cabins. We cannot wait to get on board!
M&M Hayden Posted May 11, 2004 #24 Share Posted May 11, 2004 We had an AFT cabin on Brilliance this past Feb/March. It had a sofa. NOT a sofabed. The AFTs cabins on Brilliance and Jewel (maybe all Radiance class?) are for just two guests. M&M
