cctn Posted September 15, 2009 Author #706 Share Posted September 15, 2009 Have fun Melody and Sue!! I loved that cruise and can still feel the ship going thru the canal - we were on the Radiance, inaugural sailing - and after going thru at the first port, we saw some marks where it shimmied thru the canal cuz it was so wide... I was on our balcony, 10th deck but I went out and enjoyed it better at pool deck. carol

Well next time. :( Gay How about Feb 1st? There are great deals on both the Mariner and Radiance now. The sad part is the rates are low because the ships are not selling well. I'm not sure why........is it because of the swine flu scare in Mexico? or that cruisers don't want to go to the Mexican ports? We've been to Mexico more than once but, for us, that's OK as we love the cruise experience and just being on a ship. :)
Desert Cruizers Posted September 15, 2009 #712 Share Posted September 15, 2009 Sue for us, we aren't able to do any cruises until 2011. Way this economy is going I hope we are able to cruise more in the future. My retirement has really hurt us. Gay

Desert Cruizers Posted September 15, 2009 #714 Share Posted September 15, 2009 Sue our problem, our expenses are the same with less income. With my retirment, we litterally lost $700 of income. Desert Cruizers Posted September 15, 2009 #716 Share Posted September 15, 2009 It will not affect our Calif Cruise, as I am making small payments and will clear that off with no problem, its trying to plan for longer cruises. My Investments took a little hit but don't want to draw from the Money Market. My broker because of the economy has put most of it into the set up Money Market to avoid further loss, so 20 % is invested, plus my Ira when I retired. Its beginning to go up again now which is a good sign. Gay

trojangirl90066 Posted September 16, 2009 #719 Share Posted September 16, 2009 Hi All. This is our first cruise from Seattle. But the being able to fly there on Southwest for $400 for both of us is making me think we'll go again in the future. We were actually planning a road trip to Seattle for 2 weeks, and then saw a cruise for the same price. :D Worst flight - I couldn't figure why so many people paid $100 or more for a "day room" in Tahiti. So on our last day, we went sightseeing in HUMID Tahiti all day, and got on the plane at midnight. I felt so miserable on the 8 hours home - hard to describe, but definitely needing a shower. My first cruise was on Crystal & we caught the Cruise in Tahiti back to Los Angeles via Hawaii & Ensenada. When we got off the plane at 6:30 am dressed in our warm clothes (it was December & raining in LA) I thought I was going to pass out. The customs terminal was so hot & humid I started peeling off layers while I was in line. It was really beautiful though.
trojangirl90066 Posted September 16, 2009 #720 Share Posted September 16, 2009 Thanks. Now I really feel welcome..lolTahiti and I would not do so well together it sounds like. I would not mind even doing a cruise up the west coast ... San Francisco and Seattle. Do they have those? Maybe start in San Diego and stop in LA and up the coast. Would that not be cool to have an overnight in SF and Seattle both and then back to SD or LA? I would do that in a heartbeat. Maybe they don't do those because the casino would have to be closed while at port all that time. Laura The casino would not be able to open if the ship did not go to a foreign port. Desert Cruizers Posted September 16, 2009 #722 Share Posted September 16, 2009 Trojan they have Coastal Cruises up to Seattle or Vancouver or back. Coming off our Panama Cruise, from Ft Lauderdale to Seattle, we pretty much did a Coastal, as after Cabo, we headed straight for San Fancisco, stopping in Seattle two days later. Total cruise was 17 days. Gay

Corkey Carol I had a friend who always sailed Crystal...(in fact she drove me to the port on my first cruise). She was an heiress and a school teacher, very down to earth, but I can still remember her saying"well you know dear 20 mil doesn't go as far as it used to but cruising in style is well worth the money paid". She also believed that in the end she spent less as they did not charge for booze LOL

busymomofboys Posted September 18, 2009 #725 Share Posted September 18, 2009 Hey Corkey Carol I live in Antioch also. Been here since 1979. Lived in Concord before that. My hubby and I went to Alaska this year for our 30th Anniversary on the Coral Princess. It was great and can't wait to cruise again. We left out of Vancouver and enjoyed that city so much for 2 days, want to go back there also. I will wave over the fence tonight to you HI Carol. :D
