Sounds like you and I are much alike, I too don't like cig smoke! Makes me feel ill AND I wear contacts! NOT a good combo:(:eek:. Good news is that on Celebrity ships smoking is VERY limited - YEAH !!! I think its in one or two places just on the port side. never in the staterooms or on the balconies (I think there is a fine of $250) There is also no smoking in the casino, before I could not even walk through the casino but maybe now I'll spend more time there (and money, hehe)

 

I just love being on a cruise ship!!:D

Before my retina detachment, I wore contacts for 38 yrs - the doctors have told me I can continue to wear contacts, but I am fine with my glasses now. I find it more convenient, especially if I take naps, I don't have to fiddle with the contacts. Anyway, Yes, the smoke would bother and irritate my eyes and I would start tearing and then my eyes would hurt. hubby can't take smoke cuz of his allergies. I was thinking of the same thing... that now I can go into the casino and spend more $$ !

 

I am glad Celebrity is limiting their smoking areas - there were some cruises where our next door balcony folks would spend all their time out there smoking so we would stay in and close the door shut!- I know it's their right to and if they are allowed, then fine, they can do it- but if we didn't have to inhale it, it's better for us - carol

I sailed the Infinity in April.... here is what I saw and remember..

no smoking in rooms or balcony's (I was really mad, as a smoker, as the workman had smoked on my deck and I wasn't) They only fine you if someone complains about smelling smoke....I knew all my neighbors and likely could have smoked but did not.

Smoking is allowed on decks 4,5 portside, also on the port side of the pool deck(I believe deck 11) by the Aqua Spa cafe. Also the Costellation lounge allows smoking.

There was no smoking in the Casino.

 

As for points...

1 for sailing

1 for suites

1 for voyages over 12 nights.

The most you can accumulate per sailing is 3. (We got three on our sailing... 1 for suite,1 for sailing an 1 for a 12+ night cruise)

 

We are sailing the Millie in March... can't wait. I love the M class ships. They are not a large ship and with the small number of passengers compared to other ships of this size it does not feel crowded. Food and service was fantanstic also.

thanx Barb - smoke didn't start to bother me til I was diagnosed with asthma 5 yrs ago - controlled tho' - before that, when smoking was allowed I was working 8 hrs/day with smokers at work who would smoke all day long at the office. Now my eyes hurt too -

 

looking forward to the Infinity! to the service and a new cruiseline in general= I am considering it a new experience all together! Carol

I looked thru the diamond catalog and couldn't come up with one I really really liked - so for now, the old one will do - even Patti on the diamonds thread said it was ok and not making my posting go all over the world! ha!ha! I aim to please - it's my thread too and I certainly do not want to make anyone unhappy about my entries.

I am computer tech challenged so it's hard for me to understand some things, but I think this one is working for everyone..

can't believe it's been one week since our lunch -

I do hope everyone involved in the fires are safe - I feel so bad for them, it's hard and I would be devastated if I had to deal with what they are going thru. carol

I'm now looking at taking my DD on an Alaska cruise next summer! Maybe late May, early June. I'd like to stay with Celebrity, points and all;). My question is this - Were you going on a Celebrity cruise next summer on Infinity? Which one? would LOVE to meet you!! I also want round trip from Seattle. No air fare that way!!

that would have been so nice - we are embarking in SF - we don't even hit Seattle this time - May 10 2010 - Celebrity's Infinity - geeze - it would have been nice if we had picked the ones from Seattle but we did the SF to Vancouver route-- we will work on a cruise together - one of these days we will get on one together!! I know after this Celebrity one, we will like it and book on more celebrity ships! Carol

I find that the main boards always have repeat topics - the original topics get lost and old - then newbies post the same questions - so I get bored reading them. carol

I don't recall a persons question but whenI read it the only comments I saw were sarcastic ones. I proceeded to answer the question asked and was thanked for it. Majority will answer a question. We were all new to CC and to Cruising, so feel assisting others is the right thing to do.
