I don't mean to hijack, and I don't mean to be rude, but why do you keep telling people to use the "repeat" code. I know it gets them a small discount, but if they are not repeat customers then that's not their discount to receive. Most people who have ordered know the code as it comes with the flasks and the receipt; sorry it just seems like a bad call - kinda like taking newbies to the past guest party. Eventually they'll do away with it and nobody will be able to use it.

You are in a thread about sneaking alcohol onto a ship which is a big NO NO and you are worried about getting a discount that you dont think you deserve when purchasing a rum runner? Really????? :rolleyes:

THE RECOMMENDED GUIDELINES are just that RECOMMENDED not REQUIRED OR MANANDTORY. Besides the subject of tipping has no fun value to it like, getting one over on the man (cruise ship company) does.

 

look at many of the posts, most smugglers have a hefty bar tab too. if the smuggler has his hooch confiscated, o well. we are not out anything, we get it back at the end of the cruise. Its a game that might cost the cruise company some profit, but it is not going to put them out of business.

 

I'm willing to bet you don't give back to the ship any money you won in the casino. How wrong is that, they need that money to run the ship, How dare you take that profit from the corporation.

 

Try a land base vacation.

 

Brett: I can't imagine that you actually understood my question, because your answer seems completely backwards to me. I complete agree that the tipping guidelines are just that--recommended guidelines, and people can tip as they see fit. I don't care if people want to tip more, but it isn't their business to tell others what to do. I'm talking about the people who believe it is their right to smuggle booze on the ship to save money, but then harrass others because they don't tip enough, or remove the automatic tips.

 

As far as the casino goes, I haven't bet a dime in a cruise ship casino, nor in Las Vegas for nearly 20 years. That's five cruises and 10 trips to Las Vegas.

 

I enjoy cruising, even if I don't drink alcohol or gamble. On the other hand, I will be cruising this fall with parents and siblings who enjoy both.

WOW!!! did you just used the word "sinners" just because someone want to bring booze on board? Seriously?? I think there are far worse out here in this world than to call someone a sinner over bringing there own drink onboard a ship

No I use sinners in the context of gamblers and smokers and chairhogs and line cutters and don't forget muster drill skippers.

You still don't seem to get it. Personally, I don't care if people smuggle booze, don't smuggle booze, gamble, don't gamble, tip or don't tip. It isn't any of my concern. For the purposes of this thread, however, I care when people tell other people what to do, and find it interesting when those who smuggle booze want to get after those who may not wish to tip as much as the smugglers think they should. As for gambling, have at because it's your vacation and I wouldn't think of depriving you or anyone else of the fun. Afterall, Carnival is the home of the Fun Ships!

Yet you seem obsessed with the tip/smuggle connection when there is no connection. Some that favor tipping, don't smuggle. Some do. Some that don't believe in tipping, do smuggle, some don't. There is no logical connection of the 2.

Some are for the old Formal Nights, some are for even more casual attire.

Some are for Anytime Dining, some are for Traditional.

Some are for many sea days, some for many port stops.

None of those different opinions have anything to do with tipping and/or smuggling. And tipping and smuggling have no connection with one another, or any of the other opinions.

Those who are asking if they can be left out, yes... As a matter of fact, we had a steward go so far one time as to get me a cooler and keep it filled so that I could keep the bud light I smuggled on board nice and cold. They really do not care at all. I tipped him a $20 at the beginning of the cruise and left my prepaid tips on there as well.

He starts out blind to your smuggled booze as his whole pay is dependent on you tipping him. If you tip him up front, do you make ir clear he will also get the autotip too? If not, he already has his tip in his mind, why not turn you in?

I think you'd have to leave an AK47 and some C-4 on the dresser to get "Stewart," the room guy excited.:D

We'll be cruising as you can see in about a month and we've picked up some rum runners. Everyone says they're basically full proof and my question is to what makes them such. I get it that they are plastic and not metal but if being plastic was the 'camouflage' why not just get plastic liquor bottle and thoughtfully placing them in your luggage?

 

Anyone try the 'swap beer for soda' trick by switching the cans and repacking the case?

My cousin works airport security and has told me that thick plastic bottles show up as a faint "grayness" on the screen, but you can clearly see the screw-top grooves. The Rum Runners are so thin and made with less dense plastic that they are virtually invisible to baggage scanners.
