CCL Do you tip?

Recommended Posts

We have chosen to do the pre paid tips for our cruise, and i wanted to know, when we order liquor and pay with our sign and sail card, do they still add a tip?

Do you mean auto tips?

They cover the wait staff & room stewards anything else you buy onboard will have tax & tips added.

I thought this was a no-choice thing and you had to pre-pay for gratuities? No?

I would not think it is mandatory or it would be a service charge.

Pre paid is different from auto tip.

Some pre pay so they have it taken care of ahead of the cruise for budget purposes.

I would not pre pay tip just have it charged to your S & S card.

That is just me though

Tax would only be added when at a US port and not in international waters.

I do not know about CCL but other lines we have been on they always add 15-18% to the drinks no matter where we are.

Maybe it is all gratuity.

Some call it a service charge

Well I thought the OP was talking about the same thing or am I confused? There are mandatory gratuities that have to be paid, either before the cruise or just charge it to your S&S account.

15% added to all bar drinks (alcoholic or not) is automatically added to the bill on most cruiselines... I have never seen 18% added ever. Sales tax is never added when out at sea in international waters or away from the US port.
