Adventure of the Seas pre/post hotel suggestion

Recommended Posts

Any advice on which to do for a family of 4 with a 7 yo and 13 yo?

I was thinking Marriott the night before the cruise and Intercontinental the night after the cruise. I think that I will be able to get the Intercontinental for $119 before all the taxes/fees and the Marriott for $99 before extras.

btw: the night before we arrive very late, so will only get to enjoy the hotel in the am. I am thinking $99 is still pretty good though.

Thanks in advance for your guidance.

Great hotels, great prices, I would definitely do it. The Marriott is our favorite and the Intercontinental is really nice as well, Isla Verde Beach is awesome and both hotels have super pool areas. Click on my AOS review link for loads of pictures of the Marriott.

We just left the Marriott Stellaris on Tuesday and absolutely loved it. We had a 7 year old boy with us and he did not want to leave. I actually think we had more fun in our two days there than we did on the ship. (Though we loved the ship as well.) There is a waterslide, water volleyball net they set up at times, a shallow pool and a beach great for learning to jump waves (if they're are comfortable with water.) The food is a little pricey, but the Walgreen's down the street was great for snacks and drinks.

We could not have paid the regular price for that hotel, so we bid on Priceline and just happened to get it (both pre and post cruise.) You are not guaranteed this hotel, but all of them would have been good and it seems like many people seem to win this hotel when bidding. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel...even the beds were wonderful!

There are actually 4 different Marriott's in San Juan. ;) Stellaris, Courtyard, Mirimar and a business traveler one?

I stay at this one below. It is right on the beach in the Condado area of San Juan.

It is a beautiful hotel and has lots of places around it to eat that are reasonable.

I plan to stay there again pre and post cruise myself when I cruise the Adventure.

I have never been to either one, so I can't comment on the hotel. However, we just booked the Intercontinental for 2 nights pre-cruise in July of this year. I just wanted to share that we booked a Continental vacation (air and hotel) and basically got the hotel for free! Continental made it easy, we could book 2 nights hotel and return air a week later, so the package worked. Some of the other sites would only allow you to book hotel and air with the hotel as many nights between your arrival and departure. We also got a $200 discount special! It turned out to be a great deal... hope the hotes is just as good!

We stayed 2 nights post cruise at the Intercontinental, and I think it would be a great place with kids. The pool and hot tub are very nice, and it is on a nice wide beach, with plenty of people swimming. The food is pricey, but right across the street there is a plaza with Mi Casita(good restaurant for breakfast, lunch, or dinner-very reasonable), a bagel place, and lots of fast food restaurants within a easy walk. The bus stops right outside, which will take you to Old San Juan for $.75 each.

One correction-I meant the Courtyard Marriott, not the Marriott Stellaris. Does this change your mind ata all?

The Courtyard Marriott is actually nice too. For your situation, I would still go for it at that price. It's right near the airport and since you are getting in late, that will be convenient.

I can't help on your question as we have always flown in and out of San Juan the same day as the cruise. But I know that your time is getting close so I just wanted to wish you a great trip. Looking forward to your thoughts when you return.

OOhhh!!! Thank you! We are rally excited about this hotel.

Do you know if there are any water sports nearby? My 13 year old son has one request on our trip, he wants to jet ski! My daughter wants to parasail, but she's only 10 (a skinny minny at just 60 lbs!) and I'm thinking that she will be too small no matter where we go. Hopefully we can find a jet ski somewhere though!
