vintagebabe Posted April 18, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 18, 2009 Hi there everyone! We are sailing in October(long way out) and was wondering how far the spot that the ship docks is to the areas that most travelers/tourists tend to visit. We stop in Venice, Ravenna, Split, Kotor, Corfu, Delphi, Sorrento and Rome. I know that the port from Rome is quite a long distance. But what about the others? Is it walking distance, or taxi, etc. We are fairly good walkers. Just curious. Terri
brian_uk Posted April 18, 2009 #2 Share Posted April 18, 2009 I have been to most and I answer as follows : Venice - Depending on where you dock, probably no more than 10 minutes from the Centre by walking or water bus. Ravenna - I am told theship docks close to the City but Bologna about 30 miles. Split - Not been Kotor - 100 yards from the Gates Corfu - About a 15 minute walk to the Centre or 10 euros in a taxi. Delphi - Tender to the Centre Sorrento - Tender to the Harbour and about a 20 minute walk up a steep hill to thetown. Buses are at the Harbour and you buy tickets in the shop nearbye Rome - A long way from Civtavecchia. 20 minutes walk to Station and about an hour on the train. I hope this helps Brian
Wendy The Wanderer Posted April 18, 2009 #3 Share Posted April 18, 2009 Not sure how Delphi works as a port, since it's not on the water. Presumably you tender to somewhere like Itea. Then you're going to need a bus trip to see Delphi, presumably an organized trip.
