neviboy Posted April 23, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 23, 2009 Most luxury cruise lines are offering incentives such as free air, free excursions, etc. etc. I was prepared to take advantage of them on Regent on a Med. cruise but decided to stay in N.America on SS Shadow. My TA quoted the 50% off fare , period, from LA to LA in Oct. BUT. A $1000 shipboard credit. There is no way that we can spend a fraction of this !! Will reception, or whomever, give us credit ? I just mentioned on the Regent thread, that in the past, I have used the SBC to buy casino chips, and cashed them in at the end of the cruise... I've done this on several of the luxe lines.. Never a problem. Maybe this is your answer? Host Dan
meow! Posted April 23, 2009 #3 Share Posted April 23, 2009 You can go to La Champagne, with included paired wine for 2x$200 for one night. Do a couple of body messages, that will be another $300. Buy some perfume at the gift shop, and there will be nothing left of the $1,000 shipboard credit!
Rare WesW Posted April 23, 2009 #4 Share Posted April 23, 2009 Neviboy, if you both like the specialty restaurant on the Whisper, Le Champagne..that will take your credit down to $600 (restaurante fee pp $200). I think the answer is a definate NO. But you can spend this credit on board on organised tours, spa treatments and in any of the on board shops. ( not casino) Look at the prices of spa treatments and tours. You can soon blow $1000. this is a good offer from Silversea
lord of the seas Posted April 24, 2009 #9 Share Posted April 24, 2009 Just go to the pursers desk and make a donation to the crew welfare fund. The crew get the benefit and you can forget about it.
wripro Posted April 24, 2009 #10 Share Posted April 24, 2009 I agree with Lord of the Seas. If you have any OBC left the crew welfare fund is a great way to use it. In fact, I always make a donation OBC or not.

frockoff Posted April 26, 2009 #14 Share Posted April 26, 2009 Silversea website quotes $1000 OBC new voyages effective 22 April 2009 are .... "Offer is valid on new bookings made between January 12 and July 31, 2009 only. Bookings that are cancelled and re-booked do not qualify." We booked onboard last November AND are introducing a friend who booked on January 6 this year. My TA is checking it out - Wri pro - way to, just get a new TA?? I like your style.... Has any one else already booked before this offer became available a few days ago?
wripro Posted April 26, 2009 #15 Share Posted April 26, 2009 A good TA will INSIST that his/her clients receive the same benefits as new bookers. If not he/she should advise clients to cancel and not only not rebook with SS, but book with Seabourn or some other luxury line and inform SS exactly why (assuming one is not yet in penalty phase, of course.) If fares are lowered after a booking SS accords the lower fare. Why not so the same thing with OBC?
