jenga123 Posted April 26, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 26, 2009 Hi. I notice there is a pool on the sky deck on the volendam. Is this a 3rd pool on the ship? Also what is the oasis. Another spa area? Also I read a Holland America ships all has a accessable bow. Which deck is it. I can't see it on the diagram
Atomica Posted April 26, 2009 #2 Share Posted April 26, 2009 The pool on the Sky Deck is part of the Oasis, an area for kids and teens only. It's not terribly large, so you're not missing anything. All HAL ships do have an accessible bow area. On the Volendam, you access this through a set of stairs at the forward end of the promenade deck on Deck 3, Lower Promenade Deck. Atomica Posted April 26, 2009 #3 Share Posted April 26, 2009 This is the 'pool' in question:
Atomica Posted April 26, 2009 #4 Share Posted April 26, 2009 And this is the Oasis on the Statendam. It would be similar to that on the Volendam, again, for kids and teens only.
Rare Copper10-8 Posted April 26, 2009 #5 Share Posted April 26, 2009 See Aaron's answer;) - part of the Oasis; for kids only; adults not welcome; violators are made to clean that same little pool:eek:
Sage Posted April 26, 2009 #6 Share Posted April 26, 2009 The pool on the Volendam in the Oasis is more like a wading pool than a regular pool.
RuthC Posted April 26, 2009 #7 Share Posted April 26, 2009 You don't need to use an outside staircase to access the bow on the Volendam (or any S- or R-class ship); it can be accessed from inside the ship. On Promendade Deck head into the show lounge (I use starboard, but I believe port side also works). Once in the lounge, head along the wall toward an exit. The door is marked "do not enter", or "no admittance", or something like that. Go through the door anyway. :D A few feet further (maybe 6-8') is another door. Go through that. You are now in a short passageway backstage. The door to the bow is a slight dogleg left. You will see the outside staircase as you head toward the door. Note: there is a very high step to climb over.
