Should HAL add more rums on their Caribbean cruises?

I don't care for Mt. Gay rum and am not familiar with Martinique's rums, but I can see your point. Having just got back from a 2-wk Caribbean cruise, I can see where there is room for improvement when providing a cultural as well as vacation experience onboard. My husband really enjoyed the Piton beer in St. Lucia and would have liked more of it. He also liked the Caribe beer which is found almost everywhere in the Caribbean.

Personally, I would like HAL to have a local-type dish on the dinner menu, like conch fritters or chowder, creole, maybe some Caribbean fish, like mahi instead of salmon or perch. I know some people who would like to taste local foods but are intimidated about going into a local restaurant and ordering food. When I took my first Med cruise in 2005, Royal Caribbean had a specialty dish for the area that we had visited on the menu each night. I tried several dishes that I normally wouldn't eat at home. Unfortunately RC has gone away from providing local menu items, which was a disappointment on my Med cruise last year. When I took Celebrity's Xpedition to the Galapagos islands, they served only local foods - some prepared in a South American style and others prepared in ways more familiar to American and European guests. I loved it. I think I read that HAL provides local seafood items on the Alaska cruises, but it would be nice to see that expanded for other cruise areas.

As for the OP's question, should HAL offer more rums. YES! The selection is pitiful and there are some really wonderful rums out there. I believe they could dramatically increase their tropical drink sales if they would add two or three of the best ones.

IMO
