Anybody else HAPPY about the port change?

Recommended Posts

We don't know what our replacement stop for Cozumel will be for next weekend's sailing on the Freedom is yet, but I am sure it will be fine no matter what it is. As long as I still get a vacation, I'm not complaining :)

And now we know we are going to Belize instead... so I am THRILLED.

What happens with your flight if you are staying 2 days longer? That is not easy to change.

I can't believe the other cruise was cancelled. That would be very disappointing.

Chachi - We're not staying 2 days longer, we're actually leaving 2 days earlier. It doesn't effect us, since we drive to Galveston anyway. My friend that is traveling with me is flying in Friday so we had no airline changes to make. For us the changes work out for the better - but as I said before, I feel sorry for those that had their cruise canceled.

I'm happy with the changes, Key West and Freeport instead of Cozumel and Progresso. However, I did do a ton of research on those ports and had found places to book our excursions independantly... so now i'm scrambling to try and figure out what we're going to do in the new ports!

You will love Key West. It’s just like being in a different country.:) We usually drive down a couple times a year.

ummmm. ok? I gotta ask. I've never been to Key west, but will be going in September. how is it like being in a different country?

Exactly...I am glad that we are not stopping in Cozumel...Have been there plenty of times, and am glad that it will not be on our itinerary anymore! Cozumel is only good for Carlos and Charlies!:D

oh my goodness!!! I could always find something new to do in Cozumel. There's so MUCH MORE than carlos and charlies.

Iv done the drive and its breathtaking. One bridge from one key to another. Its a long slow drive from Miami, but well worth it. Key West is very lay back, unlike the rest of Florida. The gays do their gay pride parade and there is a Hemingway deal. Its more like a tourist festive town. About 4 miles each direction, square approx. Being a island, it does have a different feel to it.

The big thing to do there is to go to Mallory Square at sunset and everyone claps as the sun goes down. I kid you not. I went on Rhapsody that stayed until 8 pm so we could do the sunset thingee.

Completely agree! I like the new Valor itinerary better too and hope its the same for our cruise in 3 weeks! I like the break up in the ports, and we've already been to Cozumel but never to Key West!

The Port of Key West web site shows the Valor docking there every Saturday in May....but nothing from Carnival on this yet.

I'm doing the 3-day Elation on June 4, scheduled for Ensenada. I don't care if they just sail around for 3 days. If they open the casino, they can stay docked for all I care. I'm going to relax on the ship. I've already been to both Catalina and Ensenada and don't particularly care if I go back to either one again.

:cool:We are very happy.Leaving June 13th on the Ecstasy. If nothing changes our 5 day cruise is now going to be a 7day at no extra charge in a Cat 12 penthouse suite. We have never been to Jamaica or Grand Cayman. Looking forward to it.:):D

What I want ot know is; Just What Was Carnival To Do? People whined bloody murder about Carnival not changing ports from Mexico and when they do the same people whine about where they get to go instead of Mexico. It is not like a cruise ship, or any other ship for that matter, can just pull into any port and say "Here We Are". It is much easier for the cruises in the Caribbean to change ports than the ones sailing from the West Coast. People are being given credit for a future cruise or allowed to switch to another cruise or go to ports along the pacific coast. What more can Carnival do.

Went from 7 day western on Glory (Coz, Costa Maya, Belize and Nassau) to the eastern. Nassau, St Thomas and St Maarten. Works for me. They are even going to buy me a bucket of beer...$20 OBC....LOL

Going on the Legend in the fall with pretty much the same itin as the Glory western......

So it's all good......

We are on May 16--hope they do the same for us -- on all items. LOL - we will take a few buckets of beer!!!! Would love to see St. Martin again - chocolate factory & chinese restaurant & the little bars all over - was a very relaxing day!!!

Not to bad, they even speak English and take American money.:p

that's kinda my point. Honestly, that was kinda my biggest disappointment about our conquest itin change was that we were going to a US port. Then i heard how lovely the bahamas ports were.....ugh.

It just is, the laid back atmosphere, the colorful buildings, the people, the culture, the narrow streets, the chickens running loose in the streets, the open bars , the food, everything.

No other place in America even comes remotely close to this place

I'd much rather go to Key West than the Bahamas.

This we do when we go down. We go to Sloppy Joes on Duvall Street (main drag) and get in front of the live cam. Then we call our friends and family back home on our cell phone and tell them to click on the live cam below. It’s a blast. I should warn you though that there’s a little delay between your call and the actual picture but it‘s only like 20 seconds or so. Its great fun

Let me know what you thought when you return.
