Rare whogo Posted May 5, 2009 #2 Share Posted May 5, 2009 http://www.evanevanstours.co.uk/ , http://www.premiumtours.co.uk/ , and http://www.goldentours.co.uk/ all offer day long coach tours of London. I may be unfair in thinking of these as being for the aged and infirm. http://www.theoriginaltour.com/ and www.bigbustours.com/uk/html/uk_home.html offer narrated hop on/hop off bus tours of London. As these buses run too infrequently to offer efficient transportation between attractions, my advice is to do the entire circuit(s) and then to use public transport to visit the attractions you want. My personal favorite guided tours are with London Walks, www.walks.com . Check those out and see if anything appeals and fits into your short visit. herbshopgirl Posted May 6, 2009 #3 Share Posted May 6, 2009 Frommer's Budget Travel recommends "rent a local friend.com"...very cool concept, very flexible and inexpensive. Hope this helps, Susan
maadimom Posted May 6, 2009 #4 Share Posted May 6, 2009 You might look up the walking tours. There are some fun ones and they aren't too expensive. Also, there are some self-guided tours that you can download to your ipod that my son and his girlfriend enjoyed. You can google them as well. dritan Posted May 11, 2009 #5 Share Posted May 11, 2009 If you want a day out of London then the Golden Tours mentioned above are pretty good. I did a tour with my mum and dad several years ago to Windsor, Stonehenge and Bath for approx £60 (approx $90) each and it had a nice mix to ages and nationalities. Also, love the Walks - and would definitely recommend an evening Jack the Ripper walk - will be very atmospheric in Sept when the nights are drawing in.
