CB - Chefs table

Recommended Posts

We did the chef's table on the CB 4/26 sailing. As soon as you get on the ship you contact the matre'd for your name to go on the list. Your name is then drawn for a spot. There is room for 10 people for each night. On our 7 day cruise there were 2 nights. The Chefs table is where you get a tour of the kitchen by the chef himself, after the tour in the kitchen you are served champagne and hor-dourves. then you are taken to the dinning room where the chef serves several courses of food all designed and prepared only for his table, wine is also accompanied with each course.

If you love food and are really into it, this experience is for you, the cost $75.00 per person but worth every cent. To us it was a chance of a life time I will never forget it.:o

We did the Chef's table on our cruise last week and all I can say is WOW. It is about a 3 hour dinner that includes a tour of the galley while it is in operation which was impressive to see how organized it considering they were serving about 1000 people at the time we were in there. The evening is lead by the head matre'd and the executive chef. We also had visits from the passenger service director and other dinning staff. Once in the galley, you go to an area set aside for you and all decorated for 5 courses of appetizers and a never ending glass of champaign. Then it was out to the dinning room for our own table complete with candles, centerpeice, etc. There were 2 other tables for food and wine and plenty of help. I think we had the other folks in the dinning room looking at us with envy. We had 4 more courses of food including desert. All I can say about the food is that it was absolutely fabulous. Also had various wines with dinner and dessert. The menu is a one of kind and according to the chef, he does not duplicate the chef's table menu every. You also get an autographed copy of the cookbook, several photos. Oh, and during desert, some of the dinning staff sang for us.

Yes, it costs $75 to do, but I think when you add up what you get between the wine, cookbook, photos, etc it works out to less than specialty dinning and much better. There are some restrictions on who can do. Food allergies tend not to work well and obviously if you are sick, you can not go. You also need closed toed shoes. We called first thing when we got on the ship at about 2pm and got in. It appeared to be 1st come 1st serve from what I can tell. Highly recommend it.

Intimate Chef's Table to Debut on Emerald Princess

Culinary Enthusiasts Can Savor a Private Gastronomic Gathering with Executive Chef

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (March 27, 2007) - When Emerald Princess sets sail for the first time this spring, she'll offer "foodies" a unique treat: a rare opportunity to be welcomed into the inner sanctum of the ship's galley by the executive chef for pre-dinner cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, followed by a specially prepared multi-course tasting dinner in the dining room.

While many passengers are able to enjoy a tour of the ship's galley during the quiet off-hours, the new Chef's Table offering will give a select group of gourmets the opportunity to visit the galley at its most busy time - during dinner - and treated to a full evening of memorable sights, tastes and conversation. After the Maitre d' personally escorts the passengers to the galley and introduces them to the executive chef, the group will enjoy French champagne with appetizers. The chef will preview the details of the menu he created for them that evening, and the group will be welcomed to their special table in the dining room.

The multi-course menu will be specially created at the chef's choice, and will not be offered anywhere else on the ship. The fare might include anything from a focus on regional cuisine to a showcase of indigenous ingredients from a recent port. Each course will be accompanied by a detailed explanation of special features, preparation methods, and tasting suggestions. Red and white wine, selected by the Maitre d' to complement the meal, is included in the evening.

During the dessert course, the chef will rejoin the group at their private table to participate in a lively discussion about the evening's meal, answer any questions the guests may have, and share culinary secrets that have been perfected through the chef's many years of experience at sea and on land. On average, Princess' chefs have been honing their culinary arts skills both shipside and shoreside for at least 25 years, and all chefs are also members of the prestigious international Cha?ne des R?tisseurs gastronomic society.

"Our chefs are continuously asked by passengers how they manage to create such an impressive culinary experience for thousands of passengers each voyage," said Rai Caluori, Princess' executive vice president of fleet operations. "This will give a select group of guests an incredible close-up view of how our dishes are created and served, as well as introduce them to our talented executive chefs. They're sure to come away with a memorable experience, and perhaps some cooking secrets as well!"

Additionally, each couple at the Chef's Table will receive a personalized autographed copy of Princess' best-selling cookbook, Courses, A Culinary Journey, which has sold more than 100,000 copies worldwide and is now available on amazon.com. Guests will also enjoy a complimentary photo taken at the private table with the chef. The Chef's Table experience can be reserved by up to 10 passengers on select nights during the sailing, at a cost of $75 per person. After its debut on Emerald Princess, Chef's Table will be gradually introduced on all Princess ships fleet wide.

Thanks for this info,

We are on the Caribbean August 22nd and were considering this also. But my mom just was on princess recently and she said it was not as good as just going to Celebrity Specialty restaurant. But she liked the educational side of it. We are still hopeing to get to try it in August.

Here is a video from our evening at the Chef's table.

Thank you for the video of the Chef's Table. I am new to Princess. I will be sailing on CB in July. When did you call the Dine Line to make the reservation?

We called the dining number as soon as we got into our cabin. We boarded about 1:45pm. We meet one person at our chef's table that found the first house phone and called the dining number ASAP. I do recommend calling ASAP. Guess it is one more reason to get on the ship early.

Tmitchell82,

Thanks so much for the tip about the closed-toe shoes! I was planning on packing only dressy sandals, so I guess I would have been out of luck. I will be sure to pack a pair of closed-toed shoes, also, in case we are lucky enough to get in!
