deeceedub Posted May 13, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 13, 2009 We're sailing Conquest on June 21- has anybody sailed post-swine flu and can tell me if they still leave Grand Cayman at 4:00 p.m.? We just booked our excursion for that day- how awesome would it be to be able to enjoy a sunset on Grand Cayman? We'll be okay if they stick to the regular schedule, but if we're not porting in Cozumel, a few extra hours in GC would be great!!!
firefly333 Posted May 13, 2009 #2 Share Posted May 13, 2009 I believe we had to be on the ship at 5 pm, and sailed by 6 pm. Im sure we had to be back aboard by 5 pm, but it seemed to me like the ship was underway before 6 by my watch. I was on last week. Lambie is doing a review thead of last week's cruise, you could post this on her thread too, she might have more details.
TaterSalad Posted May 13, 2009 #3 Share Posted May 13, 2009 Yes, for the Conquest cruises that are confirmed to skip Cozumel the ship has extended the sailing time from Grand Cayman from 4pm to 6pm. If you go to the Carnival web site it is now showing the itinerary for sailings through June 14 that were originally planned as Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel as 4 sea days plus regular time in Jamaica and an extra two hours in Grand Cayman. deeceedub Posted May 13, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted May 13, 2009 Ooooh, excellent! Thanks to you both for the replies. I was hoping for something like 9:00 p.m., but I'll happily settle for 6:00. Grand Cayman is so beautiful. :)

Grand Cayman is so beautiful. :) My brother was talking to a bartender at Margaritaville last time we were in Grand Cayman and she said ships must leave by 6pm. If you notice the Inspiration is doing back-to-back days in Grand Cayman for now and they actually pull up anchor and come back the next morning. I guess someday we'll just have to take a trip to GC on its own to see the sunset there. :( Oh well. Can't have everything. Thanks for the info! There were a bunch of posts asking why they didnt just spend the night, they leave and come back, now we know. I was also looking at my watch and noticed they left before 6 pm, even though they had told us 6 pm.
PlanoDebbie Posted May 13, 2009 #8 Share Posted May 13, 2009 The other reason they probably need to pull up anchor and go back out to sea is so that they can open up the shops and casinos. If they stayed in port, Carnival would most likely have to submit sales tax. There may also be regulations with regard to the Casino revenues as well.
