Pier 91 - Somewhere to buy wine??

By cab from the airport, you could also buy Cab without much of a diversion at Esquin Wine Merchants (2700 block of 4th Ave S) (have your cabbie take 509 and cut over to 1st coming off the bridge) or Pike & Western Wine Merchants (take the Western Ave exit off the Viaduct and double back a block or two towards the market, corner of pike *place* and western ave.

Among Supermarkets, I'd suggest Metropolitan Market Uptown (100 Mercer, with an excellent specialist selection) rather than the QFC at the base of Queen Anne/eastern South Lake Union/Seattle Center - it's closer and has a better selection. The QFC at Dravus and Elliott (continue past the cruise terminal exit on Elliott about a mile) or the Fred Meyer in Ballard, which is perhaps another mile and some from the QFC are both Kroger owned; the Fred Meyer has perhaps more aggressive pricing and a somewhat larger selection, especially in NW wines.

Finally, if you have a few minutes and drink moderate-to-upmarket current releases, don't forget Costco on 4th Ave S. It's perhaps two miles out of the way each direction, but they have some really awesome values, especially in cabs.

Of all the recommendations, I like Esquin very, very much. They have excellent staff and reasonable prices, and I was just there yesterday picking up two more bottles for our cruise after seeing the latest list (an Albrecht Pinot Blanc and a Drouhin Pinot Noir, for the Cork Dorks among us).

Enjoy your trip!

There's a WA State liquor store at 2nd and Seneca, which is like four blocks away. The selection is somewhat limited, but the prices are astonishingly competitive. The wine shop at Pike and Western is also not much of a stroll. Western is a block off 1st, so that's like five blocks or so. Whole Foods Market is a quick streetcar ride away at 2100 Westlake and has a great selection of northwest and imported wines, with an emphasis on sustainable viticulture. Finally, there's Sixth Avenue Wine Seller in Pacific Place, which would be at Pine between Sixth and Seventh.

Almost forgot. The Kress Supermarket is at 3rd and Union. Haven't been in there since before they had their liquor license.

There is nothing near the new terminal. The only way you can buy any wine or actually anything else, is to get it on the way there. This terminal is truly not near anything.

Esquin wines is a wonderful place. We love going there and would highly recommend it, if anyone is driving or can have their cab stop. I agree with the poster that recommended it. Sort of like a candy store of wine!

So if anyone wants anything, be sure and purchase it ahead of time.

As I said . . . the qfc at Dravus St is the closest to the terminal at about a mile away. Terminal 91 was originally military and then factory trawlers. It's not a particularly touristic area.

Forgot. There's now a Trader Joes just between the QFC and Fred Meyer. Perhaps two miles from the terminal.
