Elbow Beach Help

I need to know if it's true that beach rights at Elbow Beach are for their hotel guests only. Is there any area of the beach that just anyone can use? Don't want to use up precious time going there if we are not allowed on. Would like to plan before going......please help

all beach in Bermuda is public...its the chairs that the Hotel owns....

Maybe so but that doesn't stop some hotels from claiming sections as private property to be used only by their guests.;););)

I believe that in Bermuda, as in many places where the beaches are public, the part that is public extends inland only as far as the mean high water mark. Any part of the beach inland from that line may be restricted as private property.

Elbow beach Bermuda is divided into two parts, one private (East Side), and the other public (West Side). The Hotel owns the private side of the beach, and offers some great facilities to its guests.

The west is public with fewer amenities. Guests of the hotel access their section directly, whilst the public should take Tribe Road South Road just west of the Elbow Beach hotel entrance.

The public side of Elbow beach is devoid of concessions and changing facilities, but it does have bathrooms. # 4 which begins at the sharp bend on South Road just west of the Elbow Beach hotel entrance.

Thanks for your help, would you also happen to know if that is one of the beaches where the water is calm and has no rip tides.

The water is usually not calm on any of the South Shore beaches. That is there are usually waves. If you are worried about rip tides I suggest going to Horseshoe because they have lifeguards.

The beach at Clearwater is calm and has a lifeguard

Looks like you just got back from Bermuda, what about the Portugese Man O' War, did you see any, if so, where?

Thank you.

If you get off the bus at the hotel, you can walk down to the public access entrance. Its kind of hidden. When you get off the bus you will head right and walk about 500 yards or so. You'll see what looks like an alley that leads to the beach. The sign for public access is on the left, so you could actually walk right past if you aren't looking for it. This is especially important if you arrive early in the morning and no one is around. We arrived at about 10 am and we were literally the only people on the beach for an hour. Enjoy!!

Yes we saw them but only on the south shore not at Clearwater, Alexandra Battery or Tobacco Bay. I don't know what the situation is like now as it is almost four weeks since we got back (ho hum time to book another cruise)
