Grand Cayman???

We don't want to do the stingray tour so what else is there to do??? I would like to book through RCCL since this is our first cruise. There is not a whole lot listed on their website. Is it possible just to do our own thing while we are there? I mean like the beach and then shopping? Do they have good snorkeling there?

You tender in to the middle of Georgetown and shopping is all around you there. Hard Rock Cafe, etc all within walking distance. Snorkeling is good in places off Seven Mile Beach, not so good in others. Your best bet is to go with one of the locals to snorkel if you are so inclined. They will take you out to reefs, etc.

 

When we went for 5 days, my husband didn't want to do the stingrays either then. Now, he can't wait until the cruise to do it. But he had never snorkeled before either.

We rented a car from Avis for about $50 for the day and drove to Rum Point. It was an easy drive, and we were able to stop and see what we wanted as we went along. It took about 1 1/2 hours going (due to stops) but only about 40 minutes coming back. The beach was great and it had a great little outdoor grill where we had lunch.

 

A thread a few days ago advised that it was operational at this point.

Hi Dawn

 

We got a taxi outside the dock for around $4. We hired snorkels from Red Sail Sports on 7-Mile beach (they were dear though, $50 for 2 people, we are taking our own this time around!) and we just snorkeled and sunbathed. Then we caught the public bus/taxi back into town and looked round the shops. We had a fantastic time, can't wait to return in 3 weeks time! Yeah! Happy Xmas.
