2morecruises Posted July 3, 2012 #751 Share Posted July 3, 2012 Good, another reason not to go back on HAL. Take Celebrity then, they have 3, 4 & 5 times odds. Maybe you'll be able to join their Blue Chip Club too. 2MC
target32 Posted July 5, 2012 #752 Share Posted July 5, 2012 New(er) to the CC boards and first time on this thread. Glad to see some people talking dice. Love playign craps in the casinos. Played a few times on our last cruise in 2009 and did "ok". No big winnings, no big lossings either. I'll take the good with the bad, especially on holidays. Nothing too fancy to my game. Standard $10 pass line bets with $30 odds behind it. $12 on the 6 & 8. $1 on all the hard ways. If a shooter catches a fancy for a certain number. Of course, I'll throw down on that number. Just habit I guess. No harm in winning money on a number they throw often. Do a 4 & 5 hopping bet after every rolled 3 on the dice. Seems to pay out more often than most think it would. Just picked it up on trip to Vegas seeing guys cash in big on it. Kept it a part of my game ever since. Like I said, nothing fancy. Just enjoy the game and the excitment at the craps tables more than anything. Black Jack is just too boring to me. I'll play some 3-card poker between craps games. Like to play it blind every once in a while. Shakes things up a bit.
cruzincurt Posted July 6, 2012 #753 Share Posted July 6, 2012 If there are some long rollers, and/or I'm rolling, I'll play the PASS LINE with odds and two COME bets with odds. If the table is cold, I'll switch to PASS LINE and place the 6 & 8. Every once in a while, I'll play the hardways for the dealers.

Casino Player Posted July 8, 2012 #755 Share Posted July 8, 2012 CP...Love to hear those stories!! HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Trnkk: I was playing at Binion's Horseshoe in Las Vegas in the early '90's. This oriental guy comes up to the table and places a suitcase on the Don't Pass Line. They stop the game and he has to open his suitcase up. They count out the money. $250,000. The give him chips and he places it all on the Don't Pass. Dealers turn to the Casino Manager who says, "We will cover." Shooter establishes a point hits a few numbers then sevens out. Player takes his $500,000 and is never seen again. Casino Player Posted July 9, 2012 #758 Share Posted July 9, 2012 That's crazy!!! This gives me a hint I should try the Don't Pass Line today just to make Yo Eleven happy!!! HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Trnkk: It is a slightly better bet than the Pass Line. However, the difference is really insignificant. Don't forget, one hot shooter could wipe you out. Another story, I was playing at the Imperial Palace one night. This guy people called Joe was the shooter. He was a High Roller of the first order. After a Point is established he put $3,000 across the board. He is on the Pass Line with more than $200 on the line. Takes full odds. Covered every other number. His next roll lags a bit and one of the dealers informs him he must hit the wall. I am in the game and mention to the dealer he doesn't have to hit the wall. Just throw to hit the wall. Next time Joe gets the dice he hits the wall of the Casino which is about ten feet away.
Trnkk Posted July 9, 2012 #759 Share Posted July 9, 2012 Ha..ha..ha..Thanks CP for the Monday morning laugh.. BTW I was playing last night and one lady was throwing I can tell she is amateur so I put my chip on the Don't Come she rolled a 10 so I put full odds on it, two more rolls she crapped out. That's the only time I played on the back side. The casino just have a new bet called Sharp Shooter..you get paid if you roll at least 3 points (6 to 1) and it progresses to 10 points (300 to 1) I do like this bet I managed to roll 6 points (30 to 1)..sweet I am hooked now!! target32 Posted July 9, 2012 #760 Share Posted July 9, 2012 Looking forward to playing some craps soon. What is a 4 and 5 hopping bet? thanks, PA Me too!!! Hopping bets are one roll bets which allow the player to bet on the next combination of the dice. Hopping bets pay 30 to 1 for hard ways, and 15 to 1 for the rest. Example, you can hop the 7's for 3 dollars. Meaning you want to hop the 6,1 and 5,2 and 4,3; three numbers hopping for 1 dollar each. If you bet, hopping 7's for 3 dollars. The next roll, you want the dice to come up either 6,1 or 5,2 or 4,3. I hope this helps you out on hopping bets.
Dicenator Posted July 10, 2012 #761 Share Posted July 10, 2012 Come on guys; some of you have played craps on Norwegian ships other than the Jewel, Gem and Star. What can you tell me about the table bounce on some of these Norwegian ships? I don't want to book further Norwegian ships if all I'm going to find is extremely bouncy tables. I don't enjoy playing on tables like this and it usually takes me 4 days before I can adjust my throwing to where I can start making some money. Dicenator Posted July 10, 2012 #763 Share Posted July 10, 2012 Yes I can. I haven't lost any money on any cruise I've been on since I learned to play craps 5 years ago. This covers 10 or 11 cruises. On one out of these I was even within $10 and I play every day including the afternoon on at at sea day. I practice and play on neutral bounce tables so when I get on a ship with an extremely bouncy table it takes me awhile to adjust my throwing speed and my targeted landing zone. sailor_jimc Posted July 11, 2012 #764 Share Posted July 11, 2012 Dicenator- Let's same I am skeptical that you can really control the dice that much. BUT as a lover of the game I would have no problem whatsoever having money on the table while you proved it to me :) But you probably are not getting any responses because like me the others can't tell you if they are bouncy or not because we have no idea what you consider to be bouncy. I do remember my one and only NCL trip (on the Dream) the dice were constantly bouncing off the table.. it drove me nuts. I normally play on Carnival ships so I can't tell you any more than that. pdsgt Posted July 12, 2012 #765 Share Posted July 12, 2012 I don't know about "bouncy" tables but I do know that not all tables are created equally. Some are longer then others and do require a different way of throwing the dice.
pdsgt Posted July 12, 2012 #766 Share Posted July 12, 2012 Sorry, I meant 2x odds, single odds etc. All of the Hal ships that I have been on are single or double odds.

Either that or the rails are not as high, but I believe they are bouncy as during two dawn cruises, two gem cruises, and a Jewel cruise, I had way many more to tall dice throws that bounced right off the table, multiple times each roll. I had to resort to basically throwing them at the back board. Anyone with any arch above the rail had a real risk of a to tall bounce. Hope you do good on your trip. Dicenator Posted July 19, 2012 #771 Share Posted July 19, 2012 seadog67, Thanks for your response. I was on the Dawn twice (2006 & 2007) but this was before I started playing craps. I watched for a while and my impression was that the bounce was neutral. However in the last 5 years Norwegian has been changing their layouts from felt to microfiber. The Jewel I was on last year in June and I found the table to be excessively bouncy with dice flying off the table left and right. I was on the Gem last November and found the table to be really good. In fact I set a personal record with a 54 throw hand. I keep my throws low no more than 4 or 5 inches above the table and in the trip report that I wrote I mentioned that I can't really comment about throws that are made higher and whether or not they would bounce off the table. On one craps message board I got a response telling me that the Norwegian Epic has a extremely bouncy table. I have a cruise already booked on the Gem for March of next year and I'm hoping they haven't screwed around with the table. I also bought a future cruise package so I have one more Norwegian cruise that I haven't booked yet. We are thinking about the Sun on an 11 day Southern Caribbean cruise for next October. Grandpaul Posted August 1, 2012 #774 Share Posted August 1, 2012 Funny story about dice. A couple years ago we took a tour of one of the most memorable places I have ever seen, Pompeii, Italy, destroyed by a volcano in 69 AD. Unbelieveable site. Last year they had a touring exposition of some of the artifacts they found in Pompeii in NYC, just south of us. I had to go. Went in and saw some stuff I had seen over there then came to a case with a description of what it contained. One of the favorite pasttimes os the people that lived there was shooting dice which I didn't know. They found a pair of dice in one of the houses there and had them on display. One unusual thing about he dice; they were loaded. I didn't know I had any relatives that lived there.
