Dog sled camp near Carcross?

We are renting a car in Skagway, and I read somewhere that there is a dog sled camp somewhere on this drive where you can stop and see the dogs and pups. Does anyone know where this is? I purchased Murrays guide, however it is not mentioned in there either. Thanks.

We took the Yukon Ultimate Adventure last September and fouind ourselves at the Carcross Trading Post where there were dogs and cart rides. We had a great bbq lunch with homemade doughnuts there, as part of the tour. Bought a cart ride and visit with the dogs for around $40 pp. extra. It was well worth it- the dogs are amazing. We got to visit with the dogs too.

We were there a couple of weeks ago as part of a shore excursion. The bbq lunch was good (especially the donuts!!!). We had not planned to take the husky ride, but made a spur of the moment decision to do so after seeing them. We are so happy we did....it's now one of our most favorite memories.:) (At that time the cost was $30 Canadian per person which was $27 US plus tax.) It was SO MUCH fun.

Before we got started, the dogs were jumping straight up in the air eager to get going. Our musher...not sure of her name...had participated in the Yukon Quest (similar to Iditarod) in February. She was very personable and told us a lot about the dogs. One of them on our team.....Molly, had been with her during the Yukon Quest.

I LOVE ALASKA.

We love Caribou Crossing. It is very touristy but a lot of fun!

There is a really good wildlife museum with dozens of stuffed specimens, including "the world's largest polar bear" and a "wooly mammoth"!

The dog camp is free with a museum ticket, but the cart rides are extra. As noted you can usually book on the spot if you are with a tour. We drove in a rental car and had a reservation, after most of the tourist buses had departed. It is a whole lot of fun. Michelle, the Yukon Trail musher, gives a talk and points out the different kinds of sleds, mostly to carry dog food. The dogs are feed 10,000 calories a day on the trail!

For an extra fee you can ride in the training cart. It is fun to see the dogs begging to be chosen when the cart is hitched up. The 10 picked to run jump around in their enthusiasm and the musher has to stand on the brake! The ones left behind watch as the cart goes out of view, and then go back to sleep!
