Serenade of the Seas 10/30/04 Shore excursions

Recommended Posts

Hello -
This is a 25th wedding anniversary trip.
Any suggestions for "killer" shore excursions for this eastern Caribbean itinerary? (St. Thomas, St. Martin, St. Lucia, Barbados and St. Johns, Antigua? Also we're doing a follow-on week in Grand Cayman. I would love any suggestions for "not to be missed" activities for this itinerary. Thank you so much!

Also would like to chat with you if you'll be on our cruise.

Thanks so much.
Laurie

Laurie, hi! finally someone else who will be going on our cruise. Congrats on your 25th Wedding Anniversary. DH & I will be celebrating 32 years on this cruise.
We are going to be doing Godfrey's Island tour on St. Thomas, we have been there many times but always do a snorkle tour, this time we want to see the Island. It's $20pp, he picks you up & brings you back to the ship. I have a friend who did the tour last year & said it was excellent.
Antigua, we are booked for another island tour with Lawernce of Antigua. I found out about him on the Ports of call page. $25pp, also highly reccommended.
St. Lucia, we want to do the pirate ship.
Barbados & St. Martin probably just hang out, shop & maybe go to the beach.
Have you signed up for the meet & mingle party yet? How about a roll call? I started one ages ago & never had anyone answer, maybe if you start one we will have better luck.
Ohhh, I am so excited to finally meet up with someone else on our sailing.
Karen

We loved the Rhino Riders in Barbados. We booked through the ship. The Rhino Riders were fun, but the best part was the snorkeling portion of the tour. The shipwrecks were very cool and there were more fish and different kinds of fish than I had ever seen before. We have been on many snorkel trips and that one was the BEST yet. You can always see Sargent Majors and Parrotfish, but there was such a variety. The staff was great, very pleasant and safety conscious. I would recommend it to all.

Dear Karen-
Thanks for your reply. Way to go on 32 years! Quite an accomplishment these days :0) I had heard about Godfrey's and plan to book with him as well. Have you already booked that excursion? Do you think it should be done ahead?
As for roll call, I'm new at this, so don't know exactly about all that. I did sign up for the meet and mingle, but am unsure of what roll call is? Maybe you would explain further?
I see part of your signature is "Halloween on the Serenade". Do you know if there are halloween festivities planned? Should we plan for a costume?
Thanks again. Look forward to chatting with you more.
Laurie

Hi Karen,
I'm just getting the hang of this particular forum and have already tried posting a response to your message, but I don't see it showing up anywhere, so I'll try again.
Thanks for your response and congrats on 32 years! I'm so happy to find a fellow cruiser for our sailing!
I had heard about Godfrey's and thought that sounded like a great deal! Thanks for mentioning that again.
I HAVE signed up for the meet and mingle, but don't know what roll call is? Maybe you wouldn't mind explaining? Again, thanks so much.
Laurie

Not sure if it's the thread or my computer, can't read the rest of the replies. Maybe this will bump it up a little

Thanks for fixing us Laura!
Laurie, Yes I have emailed Godfrey & booked our tour with him already. I will look for his email & give it to you. You don't pay until the end of the tour so if something comes up or you change your mind you don't have to try to get a refund. You can find the Roll Call page by clicking on the top of this thread where it says Meet & Mingle Forum, it takes you to another board just like this & you start your roll call there. Are you flying in San Juan early? We are and will be staying at the Wyndham Old San Juan, it's our splurge for our anniversary.
Not really sure if they will have anything special for Halloween or not. Maybe for the kids, If you like to dress up for Halloween I'd take along something just in case. I enjoy it but I would never get hubby to participate so I'll just be watching if they do anything.
Thanks for the well wishes on our anniversary, sometimes it seems we've been married forever.
Have you cruised before?
If you need any help on getting around these boards let me know, I've been on for a couple years and they are a GREAT place to get information. Can't imagine how we managed before I found them.

We did Godfrey last year and it was great... Definitely worth the $20. You get a little bit of everything. He covers the entire island, and takes you shopping and to the beach.

In St Lucia you have to see the Pitons if you;ve never been there before. We did the 1/2 day catamaran cruise that was just long enough. This year we're going to do the pirate ship.

We did the cave in Barbados, it was ok, but not great... Thought the Flower Garden part of it stunk. Nothing was in bloom. Went back to the ship and had lunch then headed over to the Boatyard to relax on the beach. Should've gone there for the whole day.

Went to Sandals in Antigua.... Went snorkeling about 2 miles off shore, that was amazing.

This time we're doing our own thing and going to the beach and snorkeling already did the sightseeing thing last time. If you have questions or want to see pictures let me know.

Hi everyone-
Sorry I'm slow getting back. Had to make an emergency trip out of town. Thanks for all the replies. I did manage to start a new roll call, but only had one or two others join me there.
We have cruised before - only once. That cruise was also out of San Juan, so we aren't going early. We're doing a follow-on week to Grand Cayman, so THAT is our big splurge! Can't wait. I'll be around now for awhile, so will keep an eye on this message.

Hi Laurie, glad you made it back, hope everything is ok. I found your roll call, looks like we are going to have the run of the ship.
kitty1, are you going to be with us on the 30th too? I'd love to see your pictures. We had planned to do a tour with Lawrence on Antigua but DH thinks maybe we should just relax that day. Can you tell me more about your day at Sandles?
