mtnhappy Posted June 18, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 18, 2009 When is the best time to see the Northern Lights in the summer? And where? We will be at Denali in early Sep.
Budget Queen Posted June 18, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 18, 2009 You have a slight chance, around Denali. but this is an off year, with peak not being until 2012. You need to be accessable to total darkness, clear skies, meaning no clouds- full view of stars. You would be best to check the daily predictions via the Fairbanks U Geophysical web site, you need an "active" prediction, if not, forget it. Putterdude Posted June 18, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 18, 2009 This is not a good year and the lights are not often seen on the sea...not impossible .... just not likely.
nolaAlive Posted June 18, 2009 #4 Share Posted June 18, 2009 It isn't a good year as others said, but you can check here when you get closer: http://www.gedds.alaska.edu/AuroraForecast/ Fairbanks area in winter is a good spot, I hear.
