Connection time at Heathrow

MISSYLOU

Recommended Posts

I am thinking of booking a flight on BA and the schedule shows a 2 hour connection time at LHR from terminal 5 to terminal 3. Is this enough time to get from one terminal to another? If the flight originates in the US do I need to reclaim my luggage at LHR or will BA check them all the way through BCN?

Thanks for any advice you can provide.

2hrs should be fine if you arrive on time.

You won't need to clear immigration or customs at LHR and BA will send your bag on to Barcelona if you book it as one ticket. You will however, have to clear security at the flight connections centre. Even if you do miss your flight there are plenty of flights throughout the day between the two cities and you'll be put on the next available one.

Does the luggage checked directly to BCN get on the next available flight automatically or does one have to take any action?

It'll get moved onto the new flight automatically. If you misconnect, it inevitably increases the risk that the baggage will travel on a different flight, but most of the time it will make it onto the same flight as the passenger.
