Ncl called with an upsell from an oceanview to a suite. I was so excited about being in a full suite( had a mini suite on the Dawn last year) don't hear half what the lady was telling me. anyone know what the extras are. thanks

I'm wondering the same thing. We'll be in an owner's suite for the 8/23 sailing. This is what I've figured out. We get VIP embarkation. Be sure to look for the check-in lines for suite guests. Once you check in you should be taken to a special waiting room until it is time to embark. They will probably have someone escort you onto the ship.

The best perk, imho, is that you'll get to eat breakfast and lunch at Le Bistro. It has a different menu that is a step above the usually good menu at the MDR.

The Majesty, because she is older, does not have some of the nicer perks that you get on the newer ship. For instance, there are no butlers available for the suite passengers. And, I've heard they do not have the pillow menu. Also, I hear there are no refrigerators in the room.

But, I am wondering if we get a bar set up, free soft drinks, a phone you can take throughout the ship, a special room service menu, etc.? These are some of the perks you can get on a newer ship.

Anyone out there know?

According to NCL's cabin descriptions, both AB and AA suites on the Majesty DO have refrigerators.

I can't say for sure (and I will also be sailing in a suite on the Majesty), but I can't imagine they would have the portable phones available on the newer ships. What would you even use it for?

I just returned from a suite in the Majesty on Sunday, so I may be able to help.

First, I don't know about the owner's suite but the AB's are rather small..as is every other cabin on the Majesty. You have to remember that she was built before the trend of luxuious suites on ships. Having said that however, We found the room to be comfortable with enough room. I'd equate the size of the this suite to be about the size of a mini suite on newer ships.

Absolutely don't miss dining at LeBistro for breakfast and lunch.

Correct in no butlers or no pillow menus. There is a fridge however.

No

No

No

Yes

These are some of the perks you can get on a newer ship.

As a side note to the OP, please make sure that you do NOT book suite 912. It has a major hot water issue (no hot water) which they cannot fix and you will be taking cold/cool showers all week if you are in that cabin.

If you want more details, my review was just posted on the boards yesterday. Here's the link:

Hope you both have a great trip.

I hope you don't mind me asking but how much$$ was the upsell from OV to Suite? Also, when are you sailing. I'll be on the Majesty 7/12 - just wondering if they are calling upsell for this cruise.

BTW - congrats!!

I went from cc cabin 731( an ov) to 919. The upgrade was $300 for both. We are also sailing 7/12. I'm happy it's not 912. i really enjoy my showers if they're hot. Thanks for the info. I'm thrilled to be going back to Bermuda and in a suite no less

WOW that sounds like a deal! I'm on deck 6 we could have been on 9 but heard that you can feel the movement more up there; but I think I could deal with the movement more in a suite! See you onboard in less than 2 weeks!!

Did youbook through a TA or through NCL or some other travel site? We leave on 7/19 and I am hoping for an upsell fairy to call me -- i booked through travelocity website so not sure -- also i'm at work and they may try me at home...i booked it online thru travelocity.com; not sure if we would fit in a mini-suite -- there are 4 of us and some looked like only 2 maybe 3 could fit...it would be well worth it for me to pay the $300 for extra room to walk around etc. Does anyone know if they call you if you booked through a website and not a Travel Agent?:confused::confused::confused:

I booked directly with ncl

I'm really really hope the upsale fairy feels bad for me since I'm the only one in my darn group that didn't get a discount; and calls me to upgrade.

Enjoy your suite! Either way I'm sure I'll have a great time.

Just so you all know, there is no rhyme or reason for the call from whatever fairy. Upsell/Upgrade.

OP.. congrats on your upsell. If you're happy with it, then that's all that matters.

Interesting! I specifically asked about a refrigerator in 903 on the new NCL "Ask & Answer" section for the Majesty. This was the answer: "There are no refrigerators in the any cabins on Norwegian Majesty.

So CG, I'll believe you since you were on the ship in the cabin next to ours.

I've been on Majesty 3 times in a Standard and 2 Superior OV's. the latter has fridges too. It doesn't surprise me you got that answer from NCL. Pretty sad, really. They could at least say, "we don't know."

That would require them to know they didn't know, and if they knew they didn't know they would know enough to ask someone who did know.:D

PS...the NCL "Ask and Answer" is really bad. I answered several questions there the first week or two it was available but stopped once I realized they made no attempt to verify the accuracy of the answers. I just went back and checked, only to find I was identified as a "Top 50 Contributor" despite not having answered anything there in ages.

903 is one of the two Owner's Suites as you know. Our 905 was just an AB. Our group had 2 other AB's and all 3 of them had a fridge. I would think there's no way AB's would have a fridge and the Owner's Suite wouldn't. It just wouldn't make any sense. So I'm sure you will have a fridge.

CG

PS: I just checked cruisedeckplans.com and they show Owner's Suite, AB's and Superior OV's as having fridges.

I was in 903 at on the first Bermuda run in May. There is a fridge and we did have a bar set up. The set up was 3 bottles and the list to choose from was in the room when we got there. One thing I learned the hard way is that they sometimes do maintain the lifeboat just outside the window. It was a big surprise to see the guys just outside the window when I woke up from a nap!

Let me know if you have any other questions specific to 903.

Have a wonderful trip.

I forgot to say that we did get free sodas also. There were some in the room when we arrived and you could request what you wanted from the room steward. I still had to sign a receipt for them so they were accounted for but was not billed for them. We always requested bottles of water so we could take them ashore with us, just left a note for the steward.

We sailed in 903 a few years ago on the Majesty -- it's a great cabin! The living area is quite large, with a dining area with console, living area with another console that contains a TV and fridge, as well as cabinets containing bar glasses. You will get three bottles of liquor to choose from a list -- if you don't see what you want, the concierge can sometimes substitute -- you won't know unless you ask! There is a large floor to ceiling in the living area.

The bedroom is almost as large, with the floor to ceiling window and large dresser/console. There's a CD player/radio in the bedroom. I can't rememeber if there was a TV (don't watch much TV). The closet is enormous, with two safes. The bathroom is quite large, with a full bathtub/shower.

903 does have a partially obstructed view, in the living area. Wasn't a bit deal for us.

The cabin was convenient to the bar forward (Royal Observatory) to grab ice if you didn't want to bother the cabin steward. As previously mentioned, no butlers on the Majesty, but the concierge was wonderful (Karin -- don't think she's on the Majesty anymore...).

You will get snacks delivered daily, and have a suite room service menu.

Here are some photos -- let's see if this works...

Thank you misfit and CG for the information. Somehow, I had downgraded my expectations since Majesty is older and doesn't have a butler, and we are taking a five day cruise.

It would be nice to be able to get gin as part of the bar set up and tonic water as a soft drink and limes for gin and tonics in our room before dinner.

And I'll be sure to dress appropriately or close the curtain in the bedroom, so as to not give the maintenance workers a surprise.
