rimau Posted July 1, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 1, 2009 Are there any music stores in Halifax within walking distance of the pier? We have gotten quite fond of Canadian music.

Bodger Posted July 3, 2009 #5 Share Posted July 3, 2009 I like your taste in music. Unfortunately Sam the Record Man which I expect was the best music store in Halifax closed two years ago. I found the following list on Smashinglumber.com: HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA CD Plus 1592 Barrington Street Halifax, Nova Scotia B3J 1Z6 (902) 422-1559 Friday's Music 2000 Barrington Street Halifax, Nova Scotia B3J 3K1 (902) 425-0647 Music World 7001 Mumford Road Halifax, Nova Scotia B3L 2H8 (902)455-3471 Random Play 1577 Barrington Street Halifax, Nova Scotia B3J 1Z7 (902) 445-1056 Revolution Records 5189 Prince Street Halifax, Nova Scotia B3J 1L6 (902) 492-3930 Taz Records 1588 Argyle Street Halifax, Nova Scotia B3J 2B3 (902) 422-5976 You would not be disappointed with recordings by Tanglefoot or the late Stan Rogers. Oh, and use FRED the Bus top get around town for free. Bodger
woodworker&knitter Posted July 3, 2009 #6 Share Posted July 3, 2009 Is there and HMV? They're pretty good about ordering any music you're lookg for. I sencond that motion about Stan Rogers. He was the best. Also there is iTunes?
DanJ Posted July 3, 2009 #7 Share Posted July 3, 2009 Your first stop is likely right inside the terminal building where they have the market set up. It's been years since we were in there, but they had a very wide range of things for sale, not just t-shirts and sea shells LOL.
Mask Posted July 4, 2009 #8 Share Posted July 4, 2009 There's HMV on Spring Garden Road - about a 15 or 20 minute walk from the pier. It should have what you want. One of my favourites is Great Big Sea. They are from Newfoundland and are a mixture of Newfoundland kitchen party/country/rock. Wonderful stuff. parker6 Posted July 5, 2009 #10 Share Posted July 5, 2009 definately Great Big Sea - their albums are awesome! don't know if you'll find Buddy Wassisname - but worth looking for! And look for a Cd with 'song for the Mira' on it - it's a Nova Scotia classic!
